Opinion: Government & religious leaders must find solutions to Avoid Road Accidents which claim lives of Namugongo pilgrims" -Musamali Arnold - Journalist.

As a Journalist and a citizen of Uganda, I feel bad every time I run a story about innocent pilgrims killed in accidents along the way to Namugongo.

In just less that a week, more than five pilgrim have lost lives in different moto accidents and several others injured. Last week in Jinja, a driver of a Fuso lost control and injured more than five people.

This week on Gulu high way, a speeding Trailer run over a pilgrim, who died on spot.Today, 1st June 2023, a Bus belonging to Perfect coach knocked dead two female pilgrims On masaka road .

To me, this walking looks to be very risky for the citizens and it is high time the inter-religious council and govt held a discussion about the possibility of either boarding vehicles or provide enough traffic and security officers to escort the pilgrims.
