UGANDA – UAE BUSINESS FORUM TO BE HELD IN KAMPALA FROM 10TH – 13TH OCTOBER IN MUNYONYO



Uganda is set to host the 2nd edition of the annual Uganda – United Arab Emirates Business Forum which will take place at the Speke Resort Munyonyo from 10th to 13th October 2023 under the theme "Uganda the gateway of the UAE to the EAC region.”


Speaking to the press at the Uganda media center today, the state minister for investment and privatization Hon. Evelyn Anite revealed some of the sectors they will be focusing on during the forum several which included, the information technology sector, Agriculture among others.


"We have 3 sectors of our economy that we will be promoting to them, one of them being commercial agriculture, the other being ICT, the other being minerals we want to attract them in these sectors and then Tourism," she said


Anite also revealed how the forum will play a central role in the mediation between the Ugandan companies including businessmen, together with the UAE multibillion companies which will enable them to strike more deals.


Meanwhile, the Ambassador of Uganda to the United Arab Emirates, H.E Zaake Wanume Kibedi disclosed how the forum will add value to Uganda's oil sector since UAE is among the largest oil-producing countries in the whole world.

"UAE is the number 5 oil producer in the whole world so when you have ADNOC come to meet with UNOC the Uganda national oil company it gives us hope that the expectation we are having to have the first oil drop may be attracted to come closer than later," he said 



The director general of Uganda Investment Authority Mr. Robert Mukiza thanked the government of UAE for choosing to work with Uganda in any investment-related initiative, stressing that it's the best in the region.

"I think the major message we continue to tell these investors is that Uganda is the premier destination here but you can meet all your ambitions in Africa as you base in Uganda so we expect one of the key messages yes you base in the number one destination for investment in East Africa,” he revealed 



For participation, registration will be done online and the forum shall be attended by approximately 200 participants from Uganda and the United Arab Emirates.
