Speaker Among Declares Wealth, Calls for Compliance to Build Public Trust

Speaker Anita Among has declared her income, assets, and liabilities to the Inspectorate of Government today in compliance with the Leadership Code Act, 2002.

Among encouraged leaders to comply with the law to increase transparency, accountability and public trust.

She added that declaring income, assets and liabilities is an essential aspect in tracking changes in wealth by comparing income, savings and expenditure over a period of time.

IGG, Betty Kamya and her deputies also declared their wealth to the Speaker as required by the law.

She said the Online-Declaration System will close at midnight of 31st March 2025 and that the consequences for non-declaration are dire, including removal from office. So far, 37% have declared their wealth.

"In accordance with the Leadership Code Act, which mandates all public officers to declare their income, assets, and liabilities, the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has submitted her declaration to the Inspectorate of Government. She also received declarations from the Inspector General of Government and her two deputies. This exercise reinforces transparency, accountability, and public trust in governance"- Speaker Among on X-Platform.
