NAMISINDWA: Embattled LCV Chairman Wakweika Writes to NRM Registrar, Demands Breakdown of Results to Facilitate Petition

Jackson Wakweika, the Namisindwa District LCV Chairperson, has formally written to the NRM District Registrar, Richard Kikuyi, demanding a detailed breakdown of the results from the recently concluded LCV party primaries. Wakweika, who lost the race to his former male councillor, Bwayo Emma, claims that the number of voters exceeded the number of registered voters in the party register and has threatened to file a petition.

In his letter, Wakweika warned that he would pursue criminal proceedings against the registrar if the requested information was not provided. He stated that he intends to use the data to support a petition challenging the results. He also requested a copy of the district register and a vote breakdown per sub-county.

Richard Kikuyi, the NRM District Registrar, confirmed receipt of Wakweika’s letter but dismissed his claims as baseless. Kikuyi explained that deadline for submission of LCV petitions was on Tuesday 29th July adding that approximately 175,000 people participated in the LCV elections out of a total of 240,000 registered voters in the NRM register, describing allegations of an inflated register as far-fetched. He urged those who lost to accept the results and move forward together as members of the same political family.

Bwayo Emma, the NRM flagbearer and declared winner, said Wakweika’s threats are unnecessary and his letter to the registrar only proves that he lacks evidence for his claims. Bwayo clarified that the NRM operates with village-level registers, not district-level registers as requested by Mr. Wakweika. He expressed his willingness to work with everyone for the development of the district, emphasizing his vision of an inclusive administration that serves all residents.

According to the official results announced on Thursday, Bwayo Emma secured victory with 107,567 votes. He was followed by Wakweika Jackson with 66,952 votes, Situma Mango with 3,678 votes, and Wataka Simiyu Patrick with 507 votes.
