Fallen from the Pinnacle: Anita Among Returns as Ordinary MP After Speakership Snub and Cabinet Snub

Once one of the most powerful women in Uganda’s politics, Anita Among now returns to Parliament as an ordinary Member of Parliament after stepping away from the Speakership race and missing out on a new cabinet appointment for the 2026–2031 term released by President Museveni.

Her political shift comes months after strong public criticism, corruption investigations, and controversial remarks where she confidently stated she would remain Speaker until retirement.

Now, many Ugandans online are debating whether power in politics is temporary and how quickly fortunes can change in leadership.

Some supporters say she was unfairly targeted, while critics argue leaders should always stay humble while serving the public.

What lessons should young leaders learn from Anita Among’s rise and political setback?
