Mbale’s Wanyoto Paul Expresses Gratitude to Gen Muhoozi for Patriotic Officer Appointment-PO-049

Mbale, Uganda – Paul Wanyoto Mugoya, a prominent advocate, political aspirant, and resident of Mbale City, has publicly expressed sincere gratitude to Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba for assigning him Patriotic Officer (PO) number 049 in the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU).

In a statement following the latest round of appointments announced on May 9, 2026, Wanyoto thanked the PLU chairman for the recognition, describing it as a profound honor that underscores his commitment to patriotism, national service, and community development.

“I am deeply humbled and grateful to Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba for this assignment as Patriotic Officer PO 049,” Wanyoto said. “This recognition motivates me to continue serving the people of Mbale and Uganda with greater dedication to unity, youth empowerment, and good governance.”

Wanyoto, who was eyeing a parliamentary seat for Mbale City’s Northern Division in the 2026 elections but lost it, has built a reputation as a vocal advocate for justice, improved service delivery, and addressing local challenges such as youth unemployment and access to resources.

Born and bred in Mbale, he is known for his legal practice in Kampala and active engagement in regional politics.

The latest batch of PO numbers, assigned by Gen Muhoozi as PLU chairman, includes several notable figures. It features posthumous recognition for the late Joseph Tamale Mirundi and honors for individuals such as State Minister Peter Ogwang (PO 041), Pastor Aloysius Bugingo (PO 043), and others up to PO 050. The initiative aims to formalize hierarchy and reward loyalty within the movement.

Supporters view the PO numbering system — modeled after historical liberation structures — as a way to strengthen organizational discipline and patriotism. Wanyoto’s appointment places him among a select group of PLU members recognized for their contributions.

This development comes amid growing momentum for the PLU ahead of the 2026 general elections, with Gen Muhoozi’s initiatives focusing on youth mobilization, fitness, charity work, and national unity.
