Today, over 150 tablets were distributed to residents of Kalungu District by The ministry of ICT and National Guidance as part of #UCUSAF’s ongoing mission to enhance digital inclusion and community empowerment.
These devices will provide access to essential online resources, education, and market opportunities, helping bridge the digital divide and promote socio-economic development.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Amina Zzawedde, who was the guest of honor, emphasized the significance of #UCUSAF’s initiatives in ensuring that all communities benefit from the digital age.
She also emphasized that the Ministry’s commitment to bridging the digital divide across Uganda by distributing educational devices, one household at a time.
Over 19,000 devices have been distributed to 120 villages across the country with plans to reach more .
These devices are equipped with hard covers and solar panels to ensure durability and accessibility, even in areas without electricity. With pre-installed SIM cards providing six months of data, we are ensuring connectivity and continued learning.
Registration is carried out through local LC1 chairpersons to ensure equitable distribution to eligible households.
"We encourage parents and communities to safeguard the devices and take advantage of training sessions and community WhatsApp groups to enhance device usage and learning outcomes"- Said Ps Zzawedde.
