“Madam, Stop Lying to Uganda!” An Open Warning to Hon. Nambozo Florence Wamala from the People of Sironko and Bugisu “When truth stands tall, lies collapse in shame.”

The recent NRM District Chairperson elections in Sironko District did more than reveal who the people trust with leadership they exposed the lengths to which some leaders will go to cling to power through deception, manipulation, and outright lies. At the center of this disgraceful drama is Hon. Nambozo Florence Wamala, the current Woman MP for Sironko and Minister of State for Karamoja Affairs, who has now turned to public falsehoods in a desperate attempt to salvage her crumbling reputation.

Let it be known: the people of Sironko are not fools. The people of Bugisu are not blind. Uganda deserves better and we will speak the truth.

The Fall of a Campaign Built on Lies

Upon re-entering the political arena for the NRM District Chairperson race, Hon. Nambozo launched a frantic and suspicious mobilization campaign. However, her support was nowhere to be found. Most of her sub-county-level meetings, where she expected 200-300 attendees, could barely attract 30 individuals.

When it became clear that genuine delegates were not with her, Hon. Nambozo resorted to fraud. She began targeting parish-level delegates, who hold no legal voting power at the district level, with the intention of swelling the crowd and pushing for a postponement of elections under the guise of confusion. It was a tactical plan to create chaos and delay, but it failed miserably.

Bribes, Propaganda, and Threats

During her desperate campaign, Nambozo allegedly handed out cash UGX 30,000 to youth delegates, UGX 20,000 to others, claiming the more money was came from Hon. Nandala Mafabi, a known FDC figure, raising disturbing questions about her political loyalty and the true source of her funding. Worse still, intelligence reports linked her to notorious groups, often used for political intimidation. Sironko was on high alert not because the people feared her popularity, but because they feared her next move.

The NRM Steps In to Defend Democracy

Sensing foul play, the NRM District Leadership acted swiftly and decisively. Together with Uganda Police, UPDF, and intelligence units, they implemented one of the most secure electoral processes in recent history.

Key actions included:

1. Credential-based access control to the venue.

2. Discreet tagging system for legitimate sub-county voters.

3. Full presence of RPC, DPC, DISO, RDC, UPDF Army and NRM electoral supervisors from Kyadondo. This airtight system neutralized any attempt at vote manipulation or violence. The will of the people was protected.

The Day of Humiliation

At Mafudu Primary School, the designated venue, the truth was laid bare for all to see. Hon. Nambozo arrived quietly and unnoticed, taking a lonely seat at the back. No cheers. No claps. Just silence. A silence that echoed her political isolation. Then came Chairman Mafabi Suleiman Lumolo the people’s choice. Jubilant chants filled the air. He was lifted and danced around for five solid minutes. The message was crystal clear: Sironko had chosen its true leader.

In a bitter moment of rage, Hon. Nambozo threatened the RDC and DISO, warning them of dire consequences for what she perceived as their betrayal. The RDC attempted to calm the crowd and formally acknowledge her presence, but no one moved. The people had already decided. As she left the venue on foot, trailed by her car, jeers followed her: “Go back to Karamoja!” “Join FDC where your heart already is!” The political judgment had been passed not by guns, not by bribes but by the will of the grassroots.

The Radio Lies

Later that evening, Hon. Nambozo ran to a local radio station to save face. She accused the process of being rigged. She claimed her supporters were blocked. But everyone listening already knew the truth: she tried to rig the elections herself, and the NRM structures saw through it. She failed to acknowledge the simple fact that only sub-county delegates were eligible voters, and her plan to sneak in parish delegates had been crushed by the same constitution she swore to uphold.

Final Verdict from Bugisu

Hon. Nambozo Florence Wamala, this is a final warning from the people: Stop lying to Ugandans. Stop insulting our intelligence. Stop using radio waves to rewrite what the whole district witnessed. Sironko has moved on. Bugisu has awakened. Uganda is watching. And we will no longer allow our democracy to be hijacked by anyone no matter their title.
