Lumolo Warns Against Selling Party Flags, Stresses Win on Merit

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chairman for Sironko District, Hajji Sulaiman Lumolo Mafabi, has cautioned party members that his office does not sell party flags.

He emphasized that winning an NRM flag is purely based on merit and voter mobilization, not favoritism.

"If you lose, it means you were not well prepared. Go and look for votes, talk to the voters, and we shall declare the winner," Mafabi said

He made the remarks during a thanksgiving ceremony held on Saturday, June 28, 2026, at Mafudu Primary School playground.

The event was held as a thanksgiving ceremony to express gratitude to the people of Sironko District for re-electing him as the NRM chairman and for endorsing President Museveni as NRM's sole candidate in the 2026 general elections.

Speaking to Bugisu Intellectual reporter, Mafabi urged all Sironko residents to unite behind President Museveni and the NRM flag bearers.

“For us in Sironko, if we don’t support President Museveni, other districts like Bulambuli, Namisindwa, Bududa, Manafwa and others will, and we’ll be left behind. So let us join hands and support him and all our flag bearers,” he said.

Lumolo also warned voters against selling their votes for small amounts of money. “If you want development, stop selling your vote for 1,000, 2,000, or 3,000 shillings. Stick to the NRM manifesto. If we do that, we won’t have opposition in Sironko. But if we mix politics with family or religious sentiments, we won’t get good leaders.”

NRM Woman MP flag bearer for Sironko, Asha Nabulo Mafabi, who is unopposed, thanked the people for their trust in her.

She called for peaceful campaigns focused on development issues, not personal attacks.

“Our focus as Sironko is on vision and transformative leadership. As leaders, we must be symbols of unity. If we don’t promote unity, we won’t develop,” she said. “This leadership is not mine—it’s for all of you.”

Resident District Commissioner Denis Balwaniregha assured the public that the security team will ensure smooth, free, and fair elections.

Julius Nakiyi, aspiring MP for Budadiri East, appreciated Chairman Mafabi for organizing the event, he contributed Sh5m to support the activities and affirmed his commitment to unity.

"If i don't get the NRM flag, i will support the winner,” Nakiyi pledged Confident in his chances, he noted that early preparations and mobilization put him ahead.

He also revealed plans to meet with fellow contestants and bring to him their supporters on July 17, immediately after the primaries, to strategize for the 2026 general elections.
