Despite winning the NRM primaries in Budadiri East, Engineer Julius Nakiyi is expected to file his defensive evidence before the NRM Electoral commission, after his opponent filing an Election petition, claiming that the election was coiled by a number of irregularities.

Though, Statistics show, Nakiyi had an upper hand of winning his other 3 opponents, including:- Wamboya Vicent & Kiwungulo John.

What you need to know: 

Records indicate that Nakiyi beat the 2nd run up in his own village with 13 votes against Wamboya with 11 votes.

Background  check on the declaration result form in total, Engineer Julius Nakiyi, got 34,115 (52%) votes and Wamboya Vicent, who petitioned the election got 29,083 (44.1%) votes.

Besides his strategies, Nakiyi was endorsed by more than ten times by different District nrm leaders and members. 


While in campaigns, Engineer Julius Nakiyi strategically well marketed himself by tabling down five key points of how he would elevate Budadiri East, which gained him more votes. 

Nakiyi tabled the five points during a function in Bukyambi Sub-County, Sironko District, where more than 100 local leaders and councillors endorsed him.

These include: Economic transformation which he believes is a process of changing the structure and composition of a constituency economy to achieve sustainable economic growth, reduce poverty, and improve living standards.

Nakiyi promised to introduce village model SACCOs to enable Small and medium businesses to access funds to bust their businesses.

The cinfident politician assured his supporters of better and improved infrastructure in Budadiri East, this included better roads, schools, medical facilities and transmission of electricity in every sub-county.

Nakiyi further stressed that Agriculture should be embraced in the constituency, since the region has fertile soil, it should be noted that Budadiri as a region is among the food basket in Bugisu Subregion.

He concluded by assuring  better life and relocation of those affected by mudslide.

He said that as soon as he is elected as area member of parliament, he will table a motion before parliament to raise compensation fee from ten million to 50, which will help transfer all the affected stakeholders.
