The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party has today Wednesday released an update on the welcome home party for Nathan Nandala Mafabi, the party’s presidential flag bearer.
According to John Kikonyogo the Forum for democratic change party spokesperson while speaking at a press conference in Mbale City at Mbale city mayor’s gardens, all arrangements have been made to welcome Nandala home.
He says on Saturday, Nandala’s convoy will start from Njeru, his home, before proceeding to Jinja, Iganga, and Tororo. Along the way, he will wave to people until he reaches Mbale City, where he will disembark from his vehicle and walk with a convoy to the cricket grounds for a massive rally.
Margaret Madanda Wokuri, FDC Deputy President and flag bearer for the Industrial City MP seat, urged the Bamasaba to turn out in large numbers to welcome their son.
She emphasized the historical significance of someone from Bugisu and the Eastern region contesting for the Presidency.
Kakai Khariate, Mbale Deputy Mayor and City Woman MP aspirant on the FDC ticket, revealed that FDC members will engage in various activities in the city, including general cleaning and dancing Kadodi, before the event.
She assured that the party has informed the Inspector General of Police about the event and expects no disturbances, given the non-violent nature of FDC supporters.
Nandala is set to face off against other presidential aspirants, including Yoweri Kaguta Museveni (NRM), Norbert Mao (DP), and Robert Kyagulanyi (NUP), among others in the 2026 general elections.
