The declaration was made by the Mbale District Returning Officer, Anne Tusingwire, who confirmed that all the requirements had been met and that Hon. Wanda was successfully nominated.

In his remarks shortly after nomination, Wanda expressed deep gratitude to God and the people of Bungokho Central for standing with him despite past political setbacks and negativity from his opponent.

“I thank the Almighty God for this opportunity because there was fear that I might not be nominated because  i am an independent candidate now. I also thank the people of Bungokho central for their unshaken support and belief in the cause that we started together,” he said.

Wanda is serving his first term as the area Member of Parliament on the nrm ticket, though, he lost the just concluded party election to Masaba Muhamood. Wanda has on several occasions accused Muhamood for cheating inter-party elections, and according to him, it is the reason why he outed to stand as an independent candidate.

“I return to this race with the same pain that brought me into politics,” he stated. “Bungokho Central has been left in a bad condition, and that pain pushes me to serve again. We need a better constituency, therefore, let's vote wisely.

Wanda emphasized that his political ambition is not driven by personal gain but by the desire to uplift the living standards of the people of Mbale.

“The reason I am in politics is for the people not for myself. I believe Bungoko central deserves better facilities and services where everything is leveled and everyone can access equal opportunities. My main focus in this next term if elected, i will be focusing on elevation of household income generating projects, infrastructure, health, education and lobbying for my people ” he said.

Wanda, thereafter hosted his supporters at his home for lunch and sharing with them his achievements while in parliament for the 5 years.
