Eng. Nakiyi successfully nominated for Budadiri East, assures voters service delivery & poverty eradication

The political atmosphere in Sironko is filled with excitement and jubilation today as the NRM MP Flagbearer for Budadiri East,, was successfully nominated to contest in the forthcoming 2026–2031 parliamentary race. 

Nakiyi, who was nominated under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party, appeared at the Sironko District Commission offices at exactly 10 a.m and got Nominated at 11:30am, accompanied by his supporters dressed in the party’s yellow colors and dancing.

His nomination was officially confirmed by the Returning Officer for Sironk District, Mr. Elwau Benjamin, who declared him eligible to run for the position of  a slot of Member of Parliament.

After the official nomination, Nakiyi addressed the media, expressing deep gratitude to the people of Budadiri East for the overwhelming love, support, and trust they have shown her throughout the NRM primaries. 

“I want to sincerely thank the people of Budadiri East for loving me, supporting me and walking with me in the journey of leadership career. For many years, I have been trying service delivery even when i am not the atea mp, and I am proud of the progress we have made together,” He said.

Nakiyi reaffirmed his commitment to continue serving the people with dedication and honesty, emphasizing that his focus in the first term will be focusing on completing projects he started, particularly in areas of servic e delivery, and empowerment of SACCOs and women’s groups across the constituency.

“There are projects that I started and have not yet finished. I am not coming with a new manifesto; my goal is to complete what I began.

The people have told me, ‘let us send Nakiyi,’ and I am confident we shall finish the work we started together,” He added.

Nakiyi also took a moment to appreciate his political opponents, calling for a peaceful and respectful campaign period, saying that elections should be about ideas and service rather than division and hatred.

The nomination marks the beginning of a new phase in his political journey as the campaign season officially kicks off on November 10, 2025, when candidates will be allowed to begin public campaigns.
