Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Nathan Nandala Mafabi has promised to introduce a crop insurance scheme to protect farmers in Tororo District from the effects of drought, floods, and storms.
Addressing rallies in Pajwenda, Nagongera, Nyenyem, and Apetai, Mafabi expressed empathy for the struggles farmers face due to crop failure and vowed to implement solutions to boost agriculture.
Reviving Cooperatives and Supporting Farmers
Mafabi pledged to revive the cooperative bank and provide interest-free loans to farmers, enabling them to invest in their agricultural activities.
He emphasized that Uganda has sufficient resources, but corruption and weak systems hinder progress.
Addressing Water Scarcity and Unemployment
The FDC candidate also highlighted the need to address water scarcity and promised to prioritize this issue if elected president.
Additionally, he reiterated his plan to provide one million shillings in startup capital to graduates and ensure employment opportunities within months.
By providing a safety net for farmers and investing in agriculture, Mafabi aims to stimulate economic growth and development in Tororo District and beyond.
