Bududa District was filled with excitement and celebration yesterday, October 22, 2025, as Hon. Kevinah Nabutuwa was officially nominated as an independent candidate for Woman Member of Parliament. The people of Bududa turned up in thousands, singing, dancing, and cheering their beloved leader who has stood firm despite challenges and political betrayal.
Hon. Kevinah’s journey to nomination has not been an easy one. During the recent NRM party primaries, she clearly emerged victorious, but her victory was unjustly denied. Evidence from polling stations showed she had won, yet the party flag was handed to another person. When she petitioned the matter, the party never gave a verdict — leaving her and her supporters in confusion and disappointment.
To make matters worse, investigations later revealed that the person declared as flag bearer was a close relative of the district NRM registrar, raising more questions about fairness and transparency. Even the declared flag bearer admitted in private conversations that she was shocked to be announced winner, knowing very well that Hon. Kevinah had won.
Refusing to bow to humiliation and injustice, Hon. Kevinah chose a higher path — to stand independently and let the people decide. Her decision sparked great joy and unity across Bududa, as residents rallied behind her, saying she is the true voice of the people and the face of real service delivery.
Yesterday’s nomination ceremony turned into a celebration of hope. Thousands of supporters accompanied her to the nomination center, chanting her name and carrying placards reading “Our Leader, Our Choice” and “Bududa Believes in Kevinah.”
Speaking after her nomination, Hon. Kevinah thanked the people for their overwhelming love and trust.
“I am standing here not because of power, but because of the people who believe in truth, justice, and progress. Together, we shall build a better Bududa,” she said with confidence and humility.
Hon. Kevinah is widely recognized as a pillar of Bududa’s development — a leader who has worked tirelessly to uplift women, youth, and farmers through education, empowerment, and community programs. Her commitment, exposure, and passion for service have earned her deep respect across the district.
As campaigns officially begin, the people of Bududa are sending one clear message: they stand with Hon. Kevinah Nabutuwa — a leader of courage, integrity, and purpose.
