The NRM Chairman for Mbale District, who also chairman for Chairpersons of the NRM Bugisu Caucus, Wambogo Moses, has issued a strong warning to the National NRM leadership, saying that this time, they will not allow anyone from Kampala or elsewhere to come to the Bugisu region to mobilize support for President Museveni during the campaigns. He emphasized that the party must instead rely on its existing structures.
Wambogo noted that in the past, some of these people come from Kampala, stay in hotels, spent the money meant for grassroots mobilization, and then leave after the elections at the end the president perform poorly in the region.
He noted that to improve performance and raise the percentage, the party must depend on its elected structures because they understand every corner of the community.
He made the remarks while addressing the media shortly after their meeting with Mr. David Echodu Calvin, the NRM Vice Chairperson for Eastern Region, together with Bugisu region NRM party chairpersons at Mt. Elgon Hotel, Mbale City ahead of president Museveni's visit in the region.
