Read Here-The Accident That Nearly Took Speaker Anita Among’s Life – Was It Planned?

The Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, on Saturday evening narrowly escaped an accident after a trailer nearly rammed into her official vehicle along the Kampala–Jinja highway.

According to Chris Obore, the Director of Communications and Public Affairs at Parliament, the incident occurred at around 5:45 pm in Mukono District as the Speaker was returning to Kampala from Bugweri District.

Among was in Bugweri where she had been campaigning for President Yoweri Museveni in her capacity as the NRM Second National Vice Chairperson (Female).

Obore said the trailer, which was heading towards Jinja, swerved towards the Speaker’s car after several vehicles in her convoy had already passed. The Speaker’s driver quickly veered to the edge of the road to avoid a collision.

Police in Mukono have since detained the trailer driver, identified as Lubega Ivan, 32, and his co-driver, Waiswa Amis, to assist with investigations.

No injuries or damage were reported, and the Speaker continued safely to Kampala after the incident.

It is reported that inquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of the driver’s sudden swerve and whether it was a case of recklessness or mechanical failure.
