The Former Prime Minister of Uganda, Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, has rallied residents of Budadiri East Constituency in Sironko District to vote for Julius Nakiyi, the NRM flag bearer, as their Member of Parliament in the upcoming general elections.
Dr. Rugunda praised Nakiyi for his developmental ideas and commitment to improving the lives of his people.
He made the remarks on Sunday, 26th October 2025, during a courtesy visit to his longtime friend at Rosewood Hotel in Mbale City.
He appealed to the people of Budadiri East to vote wisely, saying Nakiyi is the right candidate who will effectively represent them in Parliament.

“We are waiting for him in Kampala to work together for the development of his constituency,” Rugunda emphasized.
Dr. Rugunda was accompanied by his son, Mr. Kwame Rugunda, the National General Secretary of the NRM Entrepreneurs League.
Julius Nakiyi, who is contesting for MP Budadiri East, also serves as the Chairman of the Entrepreneur's League for Sironko District.
