The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of ICT, Dr. Amina Zawedde, held an engaging meeting with the United Kingdom Trade Partnerships (UKTP) Project Team Lead to explore collaboration opportunities aimed at strengthening Uganda’s BPO and IT ecosystem.
The discussion focused on enhancing Uganda’s BPO export readiness, revamping the country’s IT & BPO sector value proposition, and positioning Uganda as a competitive outsourcing destination.

The UK has trade partnerships with a variety of countries and blocs, with its largest partners by export value being the United States, Germany, and the Netherlands.
Key partnerships also include the EU, which remains the UK's largest trading bloc, and countries within the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
The UK has 39 active Free Trade Agreements covering 102 countries as of late 2024, including "continuity agreements" that mirror EU deals and "new" agreements negotiated after Brexit, like the one with Australia.
