Hon. Miriam Mukhaye, the Mbale District Woman MP and NRM Flag Bearer, has successfully held strategic town hall meetings in Mbale Town Council (Busoba) and Bushiende Subcounty. This follows her nomination by the Electoral Commission to contest for a second term as Mbale District Woman Member of Parliament.

After participating in the NRM party primaries, Hon. Mukhaye noted that the experience provided valuable lessons which she intends to address immediately as she prepares to launch her rallies.

During the meetings, she explained the constitutional roles of a Member of Parliament, highlighted achievements from her first term and discussed key challenges affecting Mbale District. She emphasized that her first term focused largely on supporting the education and health sectors, in line with her service on the Parliamentary Health Committee.

In the health sector, Hon. Mukhaye championed the expansion of Busiu Health Centre III through a fundraising initiative that secured land worth 100 million shillings. She also supported the construction of a maternity ward at Bunapongo Health Centre III in partnership with Rotary International, facilitated the expansion of land for Budwale Health Centre III and consistently supported mothers with essential delivery kits like basins.

In education, she initiated a feeding program for all P.7 candidates during PLE across the district, provided success cards to each candidate and awarded mattresses to the best-performing girls.

Looking ahead to the next term, Hon. Mukhaye pledged to prioritize economic empowerment and youth skilling, noting that strengthening household incomes will complement ongoing investments in health and education.

Residents of Bushiende unanimously endorsed Hon. Mukhaye for another term, citing the visible services delivered, particularly in the health and education sectors.

They further expressed optimism that her position as the NRM flag bearer could lead to greater collaboration with the President and a potential ministerial appointment.

Church leaders from Burukuru Parish also endorsed her candidacy, commending her unwavering support to the religious institution and her dedicated service to the people of Mbale District.

Maayi Juliet, a resident of Burukuru, appreciated Hon. Mukhaye’s contributions and promised her full support, encouraging her to stay focused as “victory is at hand.”

Hon. Mukhaye concluded by urging residents to remain vigilant during the campaign season, warning against individuals spreading lies and propaganda aimed at misleading the public. She reaffirmed her commitment to diligent service and pledged to enhance consultations with communities during her next term.
