Bugisu region parish development model (PDM) focal Personnel Wanakina David has been  Awarded Best PDM official in Mbale District as well as well as the best employee of the year.


Wanikina received two awards, one as the best employee of the year and the other as the best department in handling pdm work in Mbale  District.

𝙈𝙗𝙖𝙡𝙚, 𝙐𝙜𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙖 — Mbale District Local Government has awarded Mr. Wanakina David, the Mbale District parish developmentmodel focal Person, as the Best of the Year 2025, as well as the best department Employee of the year.

The award was presented during the district’s end-of-year party held at Lukhobo on Friday, December 19, 2025. Mr. Wanakina received a gift and Certificates of Appreciation signed by the LC V Chairperson and the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Ms. Angella Akurut.

The recognition was in appreciation of Mr. Wanakina’s outstanding efforts in improving the lives of Ugandans by monitoring the pdm programme. 

Speaking after receiving the award, Mr. Wanakina attributed his success to teamwork, accountability, and respect for all stakeholders.

The Mbale District Resident Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Bayole Stanley, who was the chief guest at the event, applauded the achievements of Mbale District and encouraged local government staff to improve their livelihoods through entrepreneurship and agriculture. 

He also urged civil servants to support the ruling government in the forthcoming elections as a way of protecting the gains made so far.

Meanwhile, the Chief Administrative Officer, Ms. Angella Akurut, commended Mbale District Local Government staff for their cooperation and hard work, which has enabled the district to deliver services effectively.

George Davidson Wanakina is the Mbale District Parish Development Model (PDM) Focal Person in Uganda. 

He has been a prominent figure in the local implementation of the PDM, a Ugandan government initiative aimed at moving 39% of households in the subsistence economy into the money economy.

Role and Responsibilities: Wanakina serves as the key contact for PDM activities in the Mbale District. He is responsible for coordinating the program at the local level and addressing implementation challenges.

Implementation Challenges: He has publicly addressed various issues, including accusations that some local politicians are frustrating the program's implementation by telling beneficiaries the funds are a "token of appreciation" and do not need to be repaid.

Corruption and Extortion: Wanakina has acknowledged and handled reports of corruption and extortion by some technical officers and SACCO (Savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations) leaders.

Inclusivity: He has commented on the inclusion of vulnerable groups, such as persons living with HIV, within the program's beneficiary selection process, emphasizing the need to fight stigma and ensure all eligible households are considered. 

The PDM program in Uganda focuses on seven pillars, including financial inclusion, production, and mindset change, with funds typically disbursed through specific SACCO accounts and institutions like PostBank.

At the same event, the Health Department was recognized as the Best Department in Mbale District Local Government.

This award highlights Mr. Wanakina’s exemplary leadership and dedication to service, setting a strong benchmark for President M7's poverty  eradication program excellence in Mbale District and the region at large.
