Bukiende Angry Residents Rubbish Wokuri Geoffrey Over Misleading Water Claim

Residents of Bukiende Sub‑county have spit out fire after NRM flag‑bearer Wokuri Geoffrey allegedly took credit for a clean‑water project that was actually delivered by Senior counsel Charles Wamukota.

During a recent meeting with LC 1 and LC 2 chairpersons at the Bukiende Sub‑county headquarters, Wokuri told the crowd that his team had “connected  tap water to Bukiende Health III.” The claim made waves across various media platforms.

Our investigation, however, confirms that the water supply was sourced and installed by Cousel  Charles Wamukota. This was during a church service at Bunabulayi Catholic Church in Burukuru, Wamukota himself clarified that the water was brought from the hills to his home and then on to the health centre—without any involvement from Wokuri or his party.

Bukiende residents, who expressed gratitude for Wamukota’s efforts, said they find it “strange when politicians try to hijack community work for cheap popularity.” One resident added, “We appreciate the real heroes. Let the credit go where it belongs.”

This controversy highlights growing frustration with political opportunism in the area, as locals call for transparency and respect for genuine service.
