Mutufu Painted yellow As Mafabi Asha Nabulo Receives Overwhelming Support As Sironko Political Tide Shifts

SIRONKO DISTRICT, the political mood in Sironko District is undergoing a visible shift as Mafabi Asha Nabulo, the NRM flag bearer for Woman Member of Parliament, continues to consolidate grassroots support through visible service delivery and rapid community response.

In Mutufu Town Council, Nabulo was welcomed with immense love and pride, hailed openly as “a daughter of the soil.” Her rally was marked by testimony after testimony from residents whose lives have been directly impacted by her interventions.

In a rare show of appreciation, community members concluded the event with traditional gifts including a cow, a goat, two chickens, matooke, and sweet bananas, a symbolic gesture acknowledging years of tangible service to Mutufu and the wider Sironko District.

Development That Speaks for Itself.

Nabulo’s footprint in Mutufu is both broad and measurable. She successfully lobbied for the drilling and construction of five boreholes, two of which are solar-powered, significantly improving access to clean water.

Across the town council, residents benefited from reading glasses, part of over 1,000 pairs distributed districtwide, while more than 10 residents received cataract eye surgeries, restoring sight and dignity.

Each parish received spray pumps alongside onion, tomato, and okra seeds, boosting household incomes through agriculture. At Mutufu Health Centre III, Nabulo delivered mattresses, blankets, a water tank, a medical tent, and a solar-powered water system, strengthening healthcare delivery at the grassroots.

Her focus on vulnerable groups is equally pronounced.

Teenage mothers have benefited from an empowerment and skilling centre, complete with tailoring machines, while widows and elderly residents received goats, mattresses, and blankets to support livelihoods and basic welfare.

Education support has also been consistent: water tanks were installed in all government and private schools in Mutufu Town Council, and top-performing students from Sironko,  many from Mutufu,  were awarded scholarships.

*Swift Leadership in Times of Crisis*

Nabulo’s leadership was most vividly demonstrated following the devastating fire at Elgon Primary School. Within one hour of the incident, she mobilised and delivered emergency relief including 65 mattresses, 65 blankets, 65 pillows, 65 mosquito nets, 65 school bags, and dozens of books,  covering all 65 affected pupils.

In contrast, the response from the incumbent Woman MP, Florence Nambozo Wamala, who also serves as State Minister for Karamoja, amounted to only 10 mattresses, despite her senior ministerial position. For many residents, this contrast was striking.

Beyond immediate relief, Nabulo went further and successfully lobbied for the construction of a new dormitory at Elgon Primary School. The modern facility now accommodates over 200 pupils, a dramatic improvement from the 65-pupil capacity of the dormitory destroyed by fire.

Why the Incumbent Faces an Uphill Battle

After nearly a decade in office, Hon. Nambozo’s record in Sironko is increasingly being questioned by voters, particularly when weighed against Nabulo’s visible, consistent, and results-driven approach. While one offers ministerial titles, the other offers boreholes, classrooms, healthcare, livelihoods, and immediate action in times of crisis.

As the election season approaches, many in Sironko say the choice is becoming clearer. In a district hungry for practical leadership and accountability, Mafabi Asha Nabulo’s development-first politics appears to be resonating deeply, from Mutufu to the farthest corners of Sironko.
