As the year comes to an end, Christians have embraced the last Sunday of 2025 for the Thanksgiving service at St. John's Church of Uganda-Busamaga, in Mbale City.
On December 28th after Christmas celebrations the Anglican community holds the Feast of the Holy Innocents, also known as Childermas, commemorating the male infants of Bethlehem slaughtered by King Herod in his attempt to kill the newborn Jesus, as described in Matthew 2:16.
On this day, the church remembers the innocent children's martyrdom, symbolising God's strength in weakness.
The Mbale City Woman MP NRM flagbearer, Lydia Wanyoto, in the same spirit, joined the Anglican Christian congregants of St. John's Church of Uganda-Busamaga to commemorate this holy day.
While speaking to the believers, Wanyoto continues to call on parents to keep-watch of their children during this long holiday and wished Christians a merry Christmas and prosperous new year.
She also requested parents to be vigilant with children during the campaigns and the 2026 general elections.
As polls are near the corner, hon. Wanyoto urged Christians to vote for a leader who is pro-people and concerned with community engagement
"I am convinced that i possess pro-people leadership skills obsessed with community engagement," Wanyoto told Christians.
