Anita Among: A Divine Blessing to the NRM and the Pearl of Africa

As we stand in the early weeks of 2026, having recently witnessed the democratic milestones of our nation, I am compelled to speak on a truth that many in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and across Uganda recognize in their hearts: the Right Honourable Anita Annet Among is not merely a leader; she is a blessing to our party and our country.

A Pillar of Party Unity and Strength

Since joining the “mighty party,” Hon. Among has proven to be a transformative force. Her recent election as the NRM Second National Vice Chairperson (Female) at the National Delegates Conference is a testament to her standing as a symbol of unity. She has navigated the often-turbulent waters of politics with a radiant smile that serves as a beacon of hope for many, especially the women and youth she tirelessly champions.

Her commitment to the NRM’s grassroots was clearly visible during the 2025 nationwide membership verification exercises, where she personally ensured that our party’s foundation remained unshakable ahead of the 2026 elections.

Defending Sovereignty and the Rule of Law

In my capacity as a lawyer and a “watchman” for Uganda, I have stood firm in the courts to defend Speaker Among against politically motivated external pressures. Whether challenging unfair sanctions from the United Kingdom or resisting judicial activism that seeks to tarnish the reputation of our Parliament, my mission has always been clear: to protect the image of the institution she leads.

A blessing is something that protects and provides; Hon. Among has protected the independence of the 11th Parliament and provided a steady hand in leadership that respects our national sovereignty.

Tangible Footprints of Leadership

Beyond the halls of Parliament, her impact is etched into the very soil of Bukedea and the Eastern region. The commissioning of the Bukedea Teaching Hospital and the Bukedea Comprehensive Sports Park in 2024 by H.E. President Museveni serves as an enduring reminder that her leadership is rooted in service.

As she prepares to serve as the Bukedea District Woman MP for the 2026–2031 term—having been nominated unopposed—it is evident that the people recognize her value. She is a leader who leaves footprints of development, not just rhetoric.

Conclusion

In every sense of the word, Anita Among is a gift to the NRM. She brings a masterclass in patriotism and a deep-seated love for the Republic. As we move forward into this new term of 2026, let us continue to support a leader who has consistently put the interests of 48 million Ugandans first.
