Budadiri East's Nakiyi Demands Fair Share Of National Resources & Opportunities For Bugisu's After A Massive NRM Support

The Budadiri East Member of Parliament–elect, Eng. Julius M. Nakiyi, has called on the NRM government to deliberately allocate Bugisu its rightful share of national resources and opportunities, stressing that political loyalty must be matched with tangible development outcomes.

Speaking on UBC Radio Butebo Channel this morning, 22nd January 2026, Eng. Nakiyi noted that Bugisu has, this time round, overwhelmingly rejected the opposition and firmly stood with the NRM at the ballot. He emphasized that this renewed confidence in the ruling party entitles the sub-region to visible government investment in infrastructure, agriculture, health, education, and wealth creation.

Nakiyi further asserted that Bugisu now deserves its fair share of the national cake, including representation at Cabinet level, arguing that inclusive governance strengthens national unity and accelerates regional development.

He pointed out that Sironko District, once a known opposition stronghold, has massively embraced the NRM message—a political shift he said should not be taken lightly. According to Nakiyi, such a transition reflects trust in the ruling party and must be reciprocated through equitable resource allocation and inclusive development planning.

On the future of the Bugisu Cooperative Union (BCU), Nakiyi observed that the region can no longer afford institutional stagnation. He reaffirmed his readiness to offer technical and professional expertise toward restructuring and consolidating BCU operations, should the Union’s leadership seek his support, emphasizing that strong cooperatives remain central to Bugisu’s economic revival.

Addressing matters concerning the Bugisu Cultural Institution, Nakiyi reiterated his support for the current legitimate Umuguga to serve his full five-year term. He further stressed that leadership should transition to the Inda ya Wanale clan at the end of the term, in accordance with tradition and cultural equity, cautioning against actions that could destabilize the institution.

On the economy, Nakiyi called for continuous improvement of the Parish Development Model (PDM) and pledged to advocate for reforms that prioritize equity, accountability, and productivity, particularly for farmers, youth, and women.

He concluded by calling for the completion of the Namagumba–Budadiri–Nalugugu road on schedule, noting that Bugisu has spoken clearly through the vote and that the time has come for government to respond decisively through action, not promises.
