The just newly elected members of Parliament for Bungokho Central, Hon. Muhamood Masaba Mutenyo has openly said that he will support Rt. Hon. Anita Among for the position of the speaker of Parliament, and Hon. Timothy Tayebwa For Deputy Speaker.
While addressing journalists yesterday in Mbale, Masaba openly said that he will not support veteran politician, Lydia Wanyoto and Emma Biara, who have shown interest in running against Among and Tayebwa respectively.
It should be noted that Both Wanyoto and Biara originally come from Bugisu sub-region, where the public expects Muhamood Masaba to give support.
Responding to this, Muhamood says it is not mandatory for him to give back-up to a fellow Mumasaba, but rather go by the party’s decision.
"I was not sent to Parliament my by people to go and fight wars, the party has endorsed Speaker Amon and Tayebwa for those positions, therefore, I am going to give them maximum support as well as mobilizing for them"- Muhamood.
Muhamood further noted that whereas Wanyoto is good at articulating issus but she can hold on till when it is the right time.
"I dont have any issue with Wanyoto or Biara, they are very good leaders and we expect much bigger things out of them as Bamasaba and the whole country at large, though we cant just throw out Among and Tayebwa who are now very experienced"-Muhamood.
Masaba also said that Among has true leadership and always focuses on developing all regions.
"Speaker Among was able to convince President Museveni to meet over 28,000 leaders in Bugisu sub-region, they all had chance to present their problems, how can we betray her?" -Muhamood.
Muhamood's statements have brought mixed reactions from different political and social media platforms.
