You Traitor, You Will Never Be Minister Again – Muhoozi Tells Baryomunsi

The First son and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has warned to thwart any possibility of ICT Minister Dr. Chris Baryomunsi retaining his position in the next cabinet for allegedly being a traitor.

Gen Muhoozi in a post on his X account on Wednesday accused Minister Baryomunsi of being a traitor who didn’t deserve to be a minister.

“Baryomunsi, the traitor, will never be a Minister again. If he ever utters my name again anywhere, I will arrest him on the spot” Muhoozi posted.

In response, Baryomunsi told Gen Muhoozi that he was self-made and noted how being a minister wasn’t the best thing in his life.

“I rose from obscurity to where am because of my abilities not favours from anybody. Am self made.  Being a Minister is not necessarily the best thing in life. My horizon is far beyond that. Let’s serve Uganda. Cheers” Baryomunsi posted.

The CDF however reiterated that Baryomunsi wouldn’t be minister again if he didn’t first run to the CDF and make peace with him.

“It doesn’t matter. You will not be Minister this time. First come and make peace with me” Muhoozi warned.

However Minister Baryomunsi remained adamant, praising his father for training him to believe in himself and further accused the CDF of suffering from the Peter Pan Syndrome.

“My father trained me to believe in myself. He restrained me from taking alcohol. Am sober 24/7 and focussed. He let me free and I don’t suffer from Peter Pan Syndrome. Those attacking me on Twitter/X don’t know the material, we the original Bakiga are made of. Go slow” he said.

Muhoozi has since told off Minister Baryomunsi that his upbringing wouldn’t matter, since he was going to be sacked anyway.

“It doesn’t matter. We are still sacking you. You probably need the Peter Pan Syndrome” he posted.

The Wednesday early morning clash on X between the two, stems from a public clash between the the General Secretary Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Daudi Kabanda and ICT Minister Baryomunsi over recent tweets by Gen Muhoozi which have since been deleted.

On Saturday, while appearing on Capital FM’s Capital Gang political talk show, Baryomunsi stated that Gen. Muhoozi’s social media posts do not represent official government positions.

“For the record, the CDF does not speak for government, his tweets, often short and sometimes deleted are not official positions but casual comments. I have raised this matter with the appointing authority, including the President, because they do make my work harder” he said.

Baryomunsi’s remarks triggered a heated exchange with Kabanda, who accused the minister of being an opportunist and undermining Gen. Muhoozi.

“With due respect, Dr. Baryomunsi, a known opportunist who joined government for political survival has no moral authority to despise Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba,” Kabanda said.

Kabanda further accused Baryomunsi of alleged misconduct during the last elections in Kanungu District, including claims of abducting a priest to suppress opposition.
