The Bugisu Cooperative Union (BCU) has officially announced that its 65th Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place on Monday, March 30, 2026, at the Union Factory, starting at 10:00 AM.
According to a special announcement issued by the union’s management, the meeting will bring together all registered farmers who patronized the union during the 2025 financial year.
The union has also revealed changes to its usual zonal meeting structure. This year, all zonal meetings have been consolidated into a single joint meeting scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Mountain Inn Hotel in Mbale, beginning at 8:00 AM.
The Minister of State for Cooperatives Fredrick Gume Ngobi is expected to preside over the Annual General meeting as the Guest of Honour.
Speaking ahead of the meetings, BCU Board Chairman Nathan Nandala Mafabi emphasized the importance of unity and strategic alignment among stakeholders.
He further urged farmers to actively participate in the AGM, noting that it is a critical platform for accountability and shaping the future of the union.
“The strength of Bugisu Cooperative Union lies in the involvement of its members. I encourage all eligible farmers to attend and contribute to the discussions that determine our progress,” he added.
The General Manager, Wasagali Barbra, assured stakeholders of the union’s preparedness to host both the zonal meeting and the AGM successfully.
“We have made adequate preparations to ensure smooth and productive engagements during both meetings. These gatherings are crucial for reviewing our performance and setting clear strategies for the coming year,” she said.
Wasagali also noted that consolidating the zonal meetings will improve efficiency and decision-making.
“Bringing all stakeholders into one meeting allows for richer dialogue, quicker consensus, and a more coordinated approach to addressing the challenges facing our farmers,” she explained.
She reiterated that participation in the zonal meeting will be strictly by invitation to ensure effective management of the sessions.
