Mbale: RDC Bayole Calls for Gender Balance & Professionalism As Construction Of Mbale District Headquarters Progress

MBALE TOWN COUNCIL – During a site inspection meeting for the construction of the Mbale District Headquarters, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Bayole Stanley, lauded the progress of the works but called for significant improvements in workforce diversity and staff welfare.

The meeting, chaired by the District Engineer, Mr. Robert Nashimolo, served as a progress assessment for the first phase of the ambitious project.

Mr. Nashimolo reported that the construction is moving at a commendable pace. After touring the site, he noted that the progress remains positive and is well within the projected timeframe for the initial phase.

The contractors, National Housing and Construction Company, received praise for their consistency. Madam Juliet, the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), thanked them for their professionalism since the project's inception. She also proposed a bi-weekly monitoring schedule to streamline supervision and urged the contractors to deliver high-quality work to build their national reputation.

While impressed by the physical structures, RDC Bayole Stanley raised concerns regarding the social dynamics at the site. After observing only four women among the workforce, the RDC urged the contractors to prioritize gender-balanced recruitment. He challenged the management to improve the welfare of the laborers to keep them motivated and productive.

Mr. Bayole used the platform to issue a stern reminder to district officials. He warned against turning public offices into "personal interests" and urged civil servants to cease internal bickering.

"Focus on serving the public and developing Mbale District rather than engaging in internal fights," the RDC stated.

The Mayor of Mbale Town Council, Mr. Mwiri Obed, expressed his satisfaction with the project’s trajectory, noting that he personally conducts daily supervision to ensure the town council’s interests are met.
