Sodomy Case: Digital Forensic Expert Testifies, Confirms That pr. Kayanja Had Several Chats, Voice notes, Video & Sms chats With A Suspect Who Said Was Sodomized


Mengo- Hearing of the case where nine youths are accused of defaming city pastor Robert Kayanja with sodomy allegations has taken a new twist after an expert witness by names Enock Kanene, a certified digital forensic examiner attached to the Naguru Cyber Crime Department testified before Mwanga ii Grade one Magistrate, Adams Byaruhanga.

During his testimony, Kanene told Court that he conducted a full file extraction from the Mobile phone, Model Samsung SM- G980

which was presented to him in December 2025, with the use of specialized forensic tools to retrieve data including the erased files.

In his 107 pages report presented to Court on Thursday, Kanene stated that there was sharing of videos and other messages between the phone number alleged to belong to Pastor Robert Kayanja with the other number said to belong to the accused persons.

Kanene stated, that the was requested to retrieve data from the said Mobile phone by his boss which he did following all the required procedures, thus leading to the findings in the Report.

Kanene stated that his analysis on the said gadget focused on extracting WhatsApp messages, screenshots, and communications linked to sodomy as well as the contact which was saved as Mzee.

Upon being presented the Report, on the said data extraction process, the witness confirmed that indeed it’s true, it was authored by him on 12th January 2026. He emphasized that he appended his signature on all the pages of the report as a sign of owning the findings in it.

That the findings in the Report were that, the watsapp messages found in this phone was a a communication between Ssentongo Reagan’s number 0751406503 a d 0751406503 Registered under the names of Robert Kayanja starting 22nd October 2020

Kanene also informed court that Ssentongo and the group threatened to expose the Pastor by putting up videos on various social media platforms because he had failed to give them their money as per their agreement.

Earlier on, the trial Magistrate, Adams Byaruhanga warnned the accused persons against recording court proceedings as the witness was testifying. This followed a complaint by Chief State Attorney in the Matter that Jamil Mwandha was recording the proceedings using his mobile phone.

Last year, the same Court issued an order barring live and audio recordings during the court session.

The matter was adjourned to March 23, 2026, for further cross examination of the witness.
