The brainstorming session brought together key regional figures, including the Kapchorwa District LCV Chairperson, the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) Tourism Officer for Kapchorwa, and the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Bayole Stanley.
A central pillar of the discussion was the proposed establishment of a dedicated conservation school at Kapkwai in Kapchorwa District. The initiative aims to serve as an educational hub to sensitize communities, train local guides, and build sustainable frameworks for protecting the unique ecosystem of Mount Elgon and the broader Sebei region.
The leaders deliberated on creative strategies to attract international partnerships and resource support to bring the institution to life.
The Resident District Commissioner, Mr. Bayole Stanley, expressed deep gratitude to the British High Commissioner for taking the time to visit and engage with local leadership on the region's development potential.
"We highly appreciate this visit and the interest shown in our region. We ask the British High Commission to walk with us and support this initiative, which will not only preserve our rich natural heritage but also elevate tourism to create sustainable livelihoods for our people."
Mr. Bayole Stanley, RDC Kapchorwa stated.
During this engagement strategies were mentioned including Evaluating the structural requirements for setting up the Kapkwai Conservation School , showcasing the distinct adventure, cultural, and landscape tourism offerings unique to Kapchorwa and the Sebei region.
Brainstorming methods to involve international donors, conservation bodies, and community stakeholders.
