Newly Elected Bugisu Parliamentary Caucus Chairperson, Mp Wakooli Congratulates Wanyoto, Mulongo Upon Their appointment To M7's Cabinet

The Chairperson of the Bugisu Parliamentary Caucus, Hon Godfrey Wakooli Matembu, has congratulated Hon Lydia Wanyoto Mutende and Hon Simon Mulongo upon their appointment to cabinet positions by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Speaking shortly after the release of the new cabinet list, Hon. Wakooli praised the President for giving the Bugisu sub-region two ministerial positions, describing the appointments as a major boost for service delivery and development in the region.

Hon. Wakooli, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Butiru County, said the appointments of Lydia Wanyoto and Simon Mulongo would strengthen Bugisu’s efforts in lobbying for government services and development programs.

“We appreciate President Museveni for recognizing Bugisu through these important appointments. These positions will help our region in lobbying for better services and ensuring that government programs reach our people,” Wakooli said.

He added that the two leaders are experienced senior politicians whom leaders from Bugisu are ready to work with in order to ensure that the promises made by the President to the Bamasaba community are fulfilled during the current term of office.

President Museveni appointed the two leaders as Ministers of State in the newly announced cabinet released on May 26, 2026, under powers granted to him by the 1995 Constitution of Uganda.

In the appointments, Lydia Wanyoto Mutende, the Woman Member of Parliament for Mbale City, was named Minister of State for Public Service, while Simon Mulongo was appointed Minister of State for Gender, Labour and Social Development.

The new cabinet is expected to officially begin its duties after the completion of the required constitutional procedures.
