ICT Ministers, PS Chart New Era in Government Communication: High-Level Engagement at Uganda Media Centre
Kampala, Uganda – In a strategic move aimed at revitalizing government-media relations, the Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Rt. Hon. Justine Lumumba, alongside the Minister of State for National Guidance, Hon. Alioni Odira, and Permanent Secretary Dr. Azawedde, today conducted a comprehensive familiarisation and engagement visit to the Uganda Media Centre.
The high-profile delegation was received at the Media Centre as part of a series of ongoing visits by the ministers to key entities under the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance sector.
The engagement centered on three critical pillars: strengthening coordination between government ministries and media houses, enhancing strategic communication frameworks, and improving the overall dissemination of public information to citizens.
Rt. Hon. Justine Lumumba emphasized the importance of a well-coordinated media ecosystem in advancing national development goals. “Effective communication is the backbone of good governance,” she reportedly told senior officials during the visit. “By aligning our strategies and fostering stronger partnerships, we can ensure that accurate, timely, and impactful information reaches every Ugandan.”
The discussions explored practical ways to modernize government messaging, address emerging communication challenges, and leverage both traditional and digital platforms for greater public engagement. Officials from the Uganda Media Centre presented ongoing initiatives and opportunities for deeper collaboration.
Hon. Alioni Odira and Dr. Azawedde echoed the minister’s sentiments, highlighting the role of national guidance in shaping informed public discourse and national unity. The visit included interactive sessions where both sides exchanged ideas on best practices for crisis communication, public awareness campaigns, and inter-agency synergy.
This engagement is the latest in a proactive outreach program by the Ministry, designed to build institutional familiarity and ensure seamless implementation of sector priorities.
