The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Local Government has directed the Mbale City Town Clerk to interdict four senior officials.
Ben Kumumanya in a letter dated 22nd July 2026 orders for the interdiction of Principal Civil Engineer-Kasaata Edson, Principal Health Officer (Environmental Health)-Charles Wandera, Senior Civil Engineer-Anthony Wanasolo and Senior Physical Planner-Fred Nambafu.
According to the letter, the officials are facing charges of Abuse of office, negligence, mismanagement of public resources and possible financial impropriety.
The allegations came to light during the accountability inspection of government projects by the Minister for Local government, Hon. Balaam Atenyi Baruhagara in Bugisu sub-region early this month.
Responding to the order to interdict, Hon. Baruhagara took to his X-Handle saying, “Kisanja no more corruption! Great Masaka next week, Nkore after! Priority to improve Service delivery and accountability for all funds received."
The interdiction is to pave way for investigators of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit and other relevant government agencies to carry out forensic investigations into the allegations.
“In line with the above, this is to instruct you to interdict the above officers with immediate effect,” reads the Permanent Secretary’s letter.
