NRM's Amb. Nekesa Barbara Oundo Spearheads NRM Sweep as 121 LCI Chairpersons Go Unopposed in Pallisa District

PALLISA – In a resounding show of grassroots dominance, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) has secured an overwhelming victory in Pallisa District, with a remarkable 121 Local Council I (LCI) Chairpersons elected unopposed across 21 sub-counties and town councils.

The landmark result, announced amid celebrations in the Bukedi Sub-Region, has been widely attributed to the strategic leadership and mobilisation efforts of NRM National Treasurer, Ambassador Nekesa Barbara Oundo. 

The Ambassador, who has been at the forefront of consolidating support in the region, is credited with uniting party structures and energising cadres at the village level, resulting in the unchallenged return of NRM flag-bearers in the majority of contested positions.

According to the official tally, Pallisa Town Council led the charge with an impressive 18 unopposed LCI chairpersons, followed by Kamuge Town Council with 11, Gogonyo and Kaukura with 10 each, and Putiputi with seven. Other strong performances were recorded in Opwateta (6), Akisim and Obutet (5 each), while several sub-counties including Agule, Agule Town Council, Kameke, Chelekura, Kasodo and Pallisa registered three apiece. Smaller but significant wins were noted in Oboliso, Boliso I, Kibale and Kamuge.

The total of 121 unopposed victories underscores the depth of NRM support in Pallisa and the effectiveness of the party’s grassroots strategy under Ambassador Nekesa’s guidance. Party officials and supporters have hailed the outcome as a clear endorsement of the NRM’s development agenda and a reflection of the confidence local communities place in the party’s leadership.

Ambassador Nekesa Barbara Oundo, who has been actively engaging with local leaders and mobilisers in the Bukedi Sub-Region, has been praised for her hands-on approach and ability to galvanise support from the village level upwards. Her efforts are seen as pivotal in ensuring that NRM candidates faced little to no opposition in the majority of LCI races.

The results further cement NRM’s stronghold in Pallisa District and signal continued momentum for the party ahead of subsequent electoral contests in the region.
