Journalist who covered the just Science week as Uganda launched its first Satellite have accused the Coordinator of Swindling their facilitation fee.
More than 100 reporters were invited to cover the Science week on 6th- 7th November, it is said that at the venue In Kololo, a one (Male Solomoen) told journalists that they must write their names, Media houses and Mobile numbers registered on Mobile money, implying that the ministry was to facilitate them with lunch inform of cash 100,000/- for two days.
According to journalists who covered the Event, none of them has ever received the money up to date. One reporter told us that it has become a habit in service providers and agencies who take advantage of journalists Attendance list to swindle money.
Inside Sources informed us that the Coordinator presented the list to the ministry of finance department and it was cleared off.
According to the journalism ethical codes of conduct, bribery is unethical and journalists are not allowed to accept or give bribes & gifts from or to their sources of information as the practice / act is also against the laws of Uganda.
