Today 13/10/2023 at around 1730hrs, A highly impeccable source intimated that  the Opposition politicians from FDC factions namely Lord mayor Erias Lugwago and Hon.Ibrahim Semujo and NUP members namely Hon.Medard Segona, Hon.Joyce Bagala Hon.Hillary Kiyaga (Hilderman) held a closed door meeting with the leader of the opposition(LOL) in LOP's boardroom. 

The purpose of their meeting was not established due to restrictions.However our   source says;

1. There is a possibility of planned efforts to defend/ represent Hon.Zaake Francis who has now fallen out with all legislators after being being  reffered to rules and privileges committee by Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa due to his continued misconduct towards women as referenced in yesterday's plenary report

2. There is also a possibility that FDC factions could be planning to form a coalition with NUP.

3. There is also another possibility of planning for the next move since the statement regarding incidents involving security officials on opposition party leaders and supporters wasn't presented as per their demand

NUP’s Rubongoya, Ssenyonyi, several others arrested at NUP headquarters on Independence Day.

The National Unity Platform leaders including its secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya, and spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi have this morning been roughed up by police and army as they tried entering their headquarters in Kamwokya which had already been sealed off by the military.

Rubongoya, Ssenyonyi and several other members of the NUP were heading to their headquarters in Kamwokya to hold a press conference about the Independence Day and the continued abduction, arrest and alleged murder of their supporter.The two leaders and several other supporters were intercepted at the NUP headquarters’ gate by the UPDF military police, anti-riot police and field force unit personnel, roughed them up and bundled the two into a waiting security drone vehicle at the neighboring petrol station before speeding off.  

During the scuffle, the police and updf fired teargas and beat up people in order to disperse them.

We have established that the two were taken to Kira Road police station were they are being detained.

In the same way the National Unity Platform president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has been stopped from moving out of his home in Magere, Kasangati town council, Wakiso district where he is being kept on house arrest according to police.It should be noted that last week on the 5th of October 2023, Hon Robert Kyagulanyi was arrested from Entebbe Airport tarmac upon arrival and driven to his home in Magere were he was kept under house.

Joint security forces have raided and cordoned off the National Unity Platform – NUP party Head Office, in Kamwokya.

This happened as NUP supporters with their president Bobi Wine were planning to hold prayers for their people who died in the struggle.

NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu in a statement on his socials says, “The raid is in order to block us from holding prayers for our dead, detained and disappeared comrades.”

According to Kyagulanyi, “No one is allowed to enter or leave the office. While they do this, they will shamelessly gather today to celebrate “independence” even when they behave worse than the colonialists. The cowardly regime will never have the last laugh!!”

Bobi Wine said the government is not shameful as they block the opposition and go somewhere to celebrate independence like everything is clear.

Bobi Wine who returned to Uganda last week after a diaspora campaign was whisked away from the airport to his home in Magere, Wakiso district by security operatives.

Police registered it as a success since business remained as usual and no property was damaged and lives were lost.

In a bid to further create a bridge between President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and his voters especially the Bazzukulu (Youths), the Special Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs also head of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) – Kyambogo Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye interacted with residents of Luweero district to understand their problems and find amicable solutions in time.

The interaction with the masses took place on October 5, 2023, at Kasaala playgrounds to celebrate the belated International Youth Day which she attended as a chief guest.

It was during this interaction that residents applauded the office of the national chairman (NRM) Boss [Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo] for being the bridge between the locals and the National Chairman of National Resistance Movement(NRM) Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

On her behalf, Hajjat Namyalo commended the masses and Luweero district at large for the continuous support to President Museveni before and after he captured power further noting that her boss acknowledges the support and doesn’t take it for granted.

Hajjat Namyalo who is on a mission of wealth creation and self-empowerment, further told the fully charged audience that her office doesn’t give cash, however, they give items and equipment that can help the youths and the entire population to improve their livelihoods.

And not just talking but delivering with actions, Hajjat Namyalo donated an assortment of items including, Sawing machines, popcorn machines, hair driers, hair cutting machines, hoes, seeds, fertilizers, sprayers, slashers, grinding machines among others to the youths and promised to return with the president to purposely empower women in the district which is so significant in NRA/Movement that has progressively led Uganda under the stewardship of President Museveni.

Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo appealed to the youth to use these items well to empower themselves economically and get out of Poverty as advised by the President.

”I call upon all of you who have received these tools to utilize them to get something to put in your pockets” Hajjat Namyalo said.

She further pledged to deliver more items in the due course and informed them that the Office of the National Chàirmàn (ONC) is always open, they have an open gate to always direct their concerns to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa and that he loves all the youth, the reason he wants to see all Ugandans out of poverty.

In the same vein, Hajjat Namyalo later fired back at land grabbers who chase people away from their lands further calling upon the locals to defend themselves against thugs who have become a problem not only in Luweero but across the country.

”Get prepared to fight land grabbers(thugs), His excellency has never sent anyone to come and chase you away from your land, that’s a typical lie. Please get prepared and alert your neighbours, police and security for help and work together to fight land grabbers” Namyalo said.

Namyalo further revealed that her office has a toll-free number which she gave out to the masses to call and report those misusing government offices, and land grabbers and where services are not delivered to those in need.

The fully charged masses endorsed the JajjaKuBallot2026 theme and further tasked Hajjat Namyalo to deliver their message of appreciation to the President for remembering them.

Besigye, Lukwago, Ssemujju Left helpless at Katonga as court dismisses an application to stop FDC NEC elections

Civil division of the High court in Kampala has dismissed an application by some of the opposition Forum for Democratic Change FDC members based at Katonga road seeking for an interim injunction stopping the National Delegates Conference slated on Friday 6th October, 2023.

The National Delegates Conference was called by the party Electoral Commission chairman Boniface Toterbuka Bamwneda with a sole purpose of electing the National Executive Committee members NEC.

In a suit filed at the High Court in Kampala on Monday, 23 FDC members headed by Ambassador Wasswa Biriggwa, the party Chairman and Salaam Musumba, the party vice chairman for Eastern region , they contend that Toterebuka who is the sole respondent in the case is acting illegally by convening the October 6th, 2023 meeting. They therefore wanted the court to issue a declaration that Toterebuka’s actions of holding the position of chief electoral commissioner of FDC and purporting to conduct internal elections for the leadership of the structures of the party are contrary to the constitution of the FDC and therefore, unlawful, and illegal.

They had also sought for a permanent injunction restraining the defendants his agent’s servants and or employees and anyone acting under him from holding the office of the Chief Electoral Commissioner of the FDC without the express mandate of the National Delegates conference of the

 However, their application has been dismissed by the high court judge Musa Ssekaana in his ruling sent via email.

In his ruling Ssekaana said that the reasons stated by the applicants have no merit hence dismissing the application with no order as to costs.

Justice Ssekaana considered three grounds to dismiss the case with the first one being the applicant must show a prima facie case with a probability of success.

“The sum effect of the application for a temporary injunction is to put the entire party FDC in a limbo without office bearers or to facilitate the “coup leaders” to take over the party affairs until the court will determine this suit in 3 or 4 years away which may be an absurdity with a lot of unintended consequences.

in this regard, in as much as the applicants have contended that there are serious issues to be tried, this court should not merely issue a temporary injunction without being mindful of the entire party.”

On the second ground: that the applicant will suffer irreparable injury which cannot be atoned for by award of damages. he ruled that ” The interests of the applicants must be weighed against the general membership of the party and they do not have overriding interests against the others members. The potential positions or numbers of the membership of NEC is not mentioned, but the applicants are 27 members as against the number which the respondent has mentioned of 76 for the National Executive Committee. This implies that applicants are just 35% of the NEC and this would be against the majority membership and the entire party membership. The right of the applicants to be

protected has to be weighed against the corresponding need for the respondent to ensure that he exercises his mandate as granted by the party constitution and other party structures.

In the circumstances of this application, the applicants potential irreparable damage is far below the other party members who are desirous of taking part in the said election.”

On the third ground: If the Court is in doubt, it would decide an application on the balance of convenience. He ruled “This court further observes that the actions of the applicants to seek a temporary injunction as belated as they did was an act of bad faith. As the respondent stated

in his affidavit that the date of delegates conference of 6th/10/2023 was set in July 2023. 

The applicants have offered no explanation as to why they decided to file an application for temporary injunction on 3rd October 2023 2 days to the function/conference-. The applicants were trying to stampede the court with applications for interim within such a short time. A delay in filing of an application 16 is equally a strong ground to deny a temporary injunction since it is a discretionary

and equitable remedy.

The applicants had an unfettered duty to satisfy the court that this equitable remedy granted at discretion of court was available to them. They also had a duty to satisfy the court that in the special circumstance of the case they are entitled to the relief of temporary injunction which in my view they have failed to discharge.

This application fails on the preliminary considerations set out herein and also on the grounds adumbrated for the grant of temporary of temporary injunction. The court would not in any event have granted any orders which would have affected party FDC when it is not a party.

In the result for the reasons stated herein above this application has no merit and

is hereby dismissed with no order as to costs.”

Bobi Wine whisked away from Entebbe International Airport in a Police van.

High anticipation and tension filled the air at Entebbe International Airport as supporters of the National Unity Platform (NUP) assembled to welcome their party leader, Robert ‘Bobi Wine’ Kyagulanyi, from his mobilisation tours in South Africa and Canada. However, their joy was cut short when reports emerged that Bobi Wine was apprehended by unknown individuals immediately after alighting from the plane. The circumstances surrounding the incident and the identity of the persons involved remain shrouded in mystery.

Before the controversial incident at the airport, the Entebbe Police, led by Entebbe Main Police Station OC Mr Ivan Kareiga, had arrested seven NUP supporters and leaders in Entebbe municipality and Katabi town council. The NUP members were seized at Abaita Ababiri, where they had gathered, chanting party slogans in anticipation of the ‘One Million March to Entebbe’ event. Despite the heightened security presence, Ms Joyce Nabatta, the Wakiso District NUP women’s forum leader, expressed optimism about welcoming Kyagulanyi.

“It’s true there is a lot of security deployment, but we believe it’s there to protect us, not to stop us from welcoming the nation’s leader who was voted by the people. President Kyagulanyi Sentamu tomorrow at 10 am at Entebbe International Airport,” she said. Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy PRO ASP Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed that seven Bobi Wine supporters were in detention following the day’s arrest.

For the past two weeks, Bobi Wine had been away in the US for specialized medical care following his prior arrest on August 15, 2018. Despite the risks, he expressed his desire to return to his homeland and meet his people. “There are 40 million people who need hope, so I will go and meet them, no matter what,” Wine told the Guardian.

Legal Troubles and Health Concerns

Bobi Wine has been arrested twice within a month and is seen as a significant challenger to President Yoweri Museveni. He is facing treason charges related to an incident in which President Museveni’s campaign motorcade was stoned in Northwestern Arua Municipality. These charges, which he denies, were filed after he was granted a travel permit by a Ugandan court upon being freed on bail.

His arrest at Entebbe International Airport has raised serious concerns about his safety. His legal team argues that he is suffering from kidney issues and wounds from beatings. Lawyer Nicholas Opiyo described his client’s abduction from the airport as violent and expressed concerns about his medical examination being conducted by doctors linked to his torture.

The Ugandan Police’s blocking of Bobi Wine from leaving the country, despite the court declining to do so, raised a lot of eyebrows. Kyagulanyi’s arrest has stirred controversy and sparked debates about civil liberties and political suppression in Uganda. Privatisation state minister Evelyn Anite has received criticism from the public for retrieving an ambulance she had donated to Koboko municipality after losing the 2021 election. 

Anite explained her decision on social media, stating that she took back the ambulance because the people of Koboko did not vote for her, and she cited a biblical reference to support her actions.

Anite had originally donated the ambulance to help transport mothers to health centers, aiming to reduce maternal fatalities, home deliveries, and combat fistula among women.

However, her unapologetic stance sparked backlash on social media. Many users expressed their disapproval of her decision, with some calling it selfish and morally questionable.

In response to the criticism, Anite defended herself, pointing out that the ambulance donation was conditional. She also mentioned that she had faced significant challenges and disappointment after losing the election, and her decision should be understood in that context.

Anite handed over the ambulance to the Municipal Health Centre IV department on September 7, 2020, and committed to covering the driver’s salary for six months. However, there was no formal communication when the ambulance disappeared from the parking yard following her electoral defeat.

At the time, Koboko district had seven operational ambulances, while Health Centre IV had none. Anite had lost in the National Resistance Movement party primaries and later conceded defeat, citing irregularities. She chose not to run as an independent candidate in the January 2021 election.

AMURIAT clings on, says is still in charge of FDC.

The President of the Forum for Democratic Change-FDC Eng Patrick Oboi Amuriat has dismissed the resolution to suspend him and other party leaders.

On Tuesday, an extra Ordinary Delegates Conference convened in Kampala by the FDC Party National Chairman Wasswa Birigwa resolved to suspend Amuriat, the party Secretary General Nathan Nandala Mafabi, and the Treasurer Geoffrey Ekanya.

The meeting appointed an Interim committee with Erias Lukwago, who is the Party Vice President in charge of Buganda as the Party President, Harold Kaija who is the Deputy Secretary General as the General Secretary, and Francis Mwijukye, the Deputy Treasurer as Treasurer.

Speaking on Thursday at the party headquarters where several members of FDC convened to pick nomination forms ahead of a delegate’s conference in October, Amuriat dismissed the Tuesday resolutions saying that those appointed were leaders of Katonga. He described the Tuesday meeting as another attempted coup at the legitimate leadership of the FDC.

Amuriat accused Birigwa of convening an illegal delegates conference. He also revealed his intentions to suspend Birigwa and other party leaders for paying allegiance to Katonga and failing at their mandate. His plan, however, he said is still being failed by the party’s working committee.

The party is split into two factions after the Spokesperson Ibrahim Semujju Nganda convened FDC delegates at Sharing Hall in Nsambya Kampala and informed them that the Secretary-General Nandala had received billions of “dirty” money which he together with Amuriat used luxuriously during the 2021 elections. The allegation although made officially public by Ssemujju, originated from FDC’s founding party President Dr Kiiza Besigye way back in 2020.

The allegations denied by Nandala positioned him, Amuriat, and other top party officials on one side and Besigye, Ssemujju, Lukwago, Mwijukye, and others in another faction.

Attempts to reconcile the two sides have since failed, creating two factions, with Nandala based at the party headquarters and Dr Besigye at his office at Katonga in Kampala Central.

But Amuriat said that the events at the Katonga-based FDC members are meant to force him and others out of the party leadership. He said that when he assumed the leadership of the party, they wanted him to work under their armpits which he could not accept.

He apologized to the members of FDC for appointing Lukwago as his deputy, saying that he made a wrong judgment of someone who had turned out to be a mercenary of FDC members who are based at the Katonga office.        Amuriat said that those who want to take up positions in the party should participate in the ongoing election process.

He said that he shall stand for party President and plans to canvass for support countrywide starting next week.

Nandala revealed that he would contest for the position of Secretary General of FDC. He again denied taking money from suspicious sources with the intention of mortgaging the party. He bragged about being an intelligent man, and his other colleagues too, such as Yusuf Nsibambi.

He criticized those accusing him of working with President Yoweri Museveni and the National Resistance Movement-NRM party in anticipation of a government position.

Nandala said that he has the confidence of lawyers that the election process the party is undertaking is legal.

Mawokota South Member of Parliament, Yusuf Nsibambi, one of the lawyers in FDC also assured members that the electoral process was legal and legitimate having been confirmed by the party’s National Council and the National Executive Committee-NEC.

Nsibambi said that whatever happened at Katonga was illegal and that leadership can only be acquired through a known electoral process.

The faction-based at the headquarters is scheduled to have a delegates’ conference on October 6, 2023.

Bobi Wine Abandons His Car, Enters Kabale Town On Foot As Police Blocked Him.

Security forces, including the army and police, Blocked the main entry to Kabala town for NUP's Robert "Bobi Wine" Kyagulanyi.

The main road was blocked by a fire brigade truck as early as 9 a.m.

Kyagulanyi who was expected in Kabale town for the 4th day of the party's national mobilisation campaign was forced to jump out of his car and footed 3km to enter Kabale town.

Bobi Wine Immediately hit his Twitter and blamed Security for the interruption and harassment of his supporters.

"THANK YOU KABALE. The police and military started harassing you in the early morning, but you insisted and stayed on the streets to wait for us. When they blocked us from entering the town, you peacefully marched through the town with us. And yes you are still waiting for us outside the radio!"- Bobi Wine.

Police attempted to block him from accessing radio but he maneuvered and held an interview at exactly noon. After the program, Kyagulanyi headed to Nyerere Avenue to officially open party offices.

After opening offices, Bobi Wine headed to Kabale Primary School Playgrounds to address his supporters but unfortunately, Police had earlier on cordoned off the venue.

Bobi Wine has concluded his western Uganda political your and will be heading to the Eastern region next week.

On several occasions, the first son, General Muhoozi Kaineruga has always failed to make a speech that can capture the youths and the local people, Youths and the common person fail to digest his words due to his choice of words and soft speaking.

According to Journalist Arnold Musamali Freeman, Gen Muhoozi needs to work more on his presentation before getting to big crowds.

I've covered General Muhoozi on more than five events including his country tours but his speech is always lucking. He has totally failed to connect himself with the youths and the local people. He is too much diplomatic and yet the majority of his Audience are the locals"- Musamali noted.

Musamali elaborates that the president's son should copy from his father who can speak for hours even with or without a written speech and his message is clearly passed on to citizens.

"President M7 has mastered the game of speaking to Ugandans, he will always give a speech that will even allow journalists to quote him, which his son failed to adopt. Muhoozi can mobilize for big crowds but will always fail to pass on the message"- Musamali.

Musamali claims the National Unity Platform Boss, Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine can relate with the youths and local people because he understands the real problems on the ground. 

"If at all the first son wants to become the president, then he must mix and mingle with the locals most especially the youths. Let him start opening up to the youths and the locals, this will improve on how he talks to them. His too much English is totally disconnecting him from his supporters"- Musamali.

Today 29th, August 2023, marked the second day of the National Unity Platform (NUP)

country-wide activities.

After holding a Successful rally in Mbale, Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine stormed Fort Portal amidst heavy security deployment on different streets.

Security composed of both the Army and police maintained high visibility on the streets of Fort Portal City.

Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi wine, arrived in Fort Portal at 11 a.m. and was warmly welcomed by a huge furthering of his supporters.

Traffic came to a standstill as Bobi Wine and his supporters moved through the streets of Fort Portal.

After opening offices on Ruhandiika Street, Bobi Wine relied on the people of the Toro region to join and support his party for a better Uganda.

President Museveni reveals to the NRM village chairperson that his vote results for Kampala were changed.

While meeting the NRM village chairpersons for Kampala at Kololo Independence grounds yesterday, President Museveni revealed that his vote results in Kampala were changed. "I had heard about the rigging of votes in Kampala and even my votes were changed" the President stated in parts of his speech. 

The NRM candidate despite winning the general presidential elections with a 58.38% score declined performance in Kampala with the opposition leading.
