Busoga royal wedding Banquet yields 1 Billion shillings.

The organizing committee of the Busoga Royal Wedding last night raised UGX 1 billion from the Royal Banquet that was held at Kololo Independence Grounds.

The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Businessmen and women, politicians, government officials, celebrities, and Public figures.

While speaking at the event, Hon. Minister Kasule Lumuba, the head of communication and publicity on the organizing committee thanked all stakeholders and well-wishers who contributed towards the call.

"I want to thank everyone, private sector, and government organizations for supporting the Busoga Kingdom during this royal wedding preparations. I want to also thank media for championing in giving us millage, they've been our ears and the mouthpiece and we are so fretful"- Lumumba.

Representing the Kyabazinga, the Katukiro of Busoga, Dr. Joseph Muvawala assured the general public that the royal wedding celebrations are going to set history in  Busoga and the whole country at large.

"We are going to have more than Ten (10) receptions and we expect thousands of numbers and each reception except the main venue where we expect only 350 guests"-Muvawala said.

The Busoga Royal wedding between the Kyabazinga of Busoga William Gabula Nadiope IV and the Inhebantu to be Jovia Mutesi has received a big boost from Nile Breweries of Uganda shillings 450 to help in the preparations of the long-awaited historical wedding.

Receiving the financial boost from the Nile Breweries at a function held at the Kingdom Headquarters, the Katukiiro of Busoga Dr. Joseph Muvawala says the contribution from Nile Breweries is a clear signal that big companies have trust in identifying with the Kingdom.

Handing over the support to the organizers of the event, the Head of Legal and Corporate Affairs at Uganda Breweries Emmanuel Njuki, said their contribution was based on the support they have been receiving from the people of Busoga since the establishment of their factory on the Nile in 1951.
Njuki said of the 450 million shillings, part of it will be cash, and other will be in the form of advertising in media of the royal wedding, in addition to providing free beer at all the 12 venues that have been organized.

To the Katukiro Dr. Joseph Muvawala, the contribution from Nile Breweries is a gesture that big companies have trust in the Busoga Kingdom.

He also asked other potential sponsors to support this historical wedding of the century.

The Chairperson of the committee on Media and Entertainment for the Busoga Royal wedding Justine Kasule Lumumba also used this platform to remind the Basoga and the friends of Busoga to continue supporting Busoga.

Christians Flee Church after Bishop Ssebaggala turned up for Sunday service with Bouncers.

 

Last Sunday Christians In Luwero fled church after Bishop James William Ssebaggala showed up for a Sunday service being guarded by BAU Security, commonly known as bouncers.

The bishop ended up preaching to empty seats after church members disappeared. 

The situation in the Diocese of Luweero is getting worse every day, our reporter confirmed to us that the churches are dry because of the tension and fear people are going through while going to worship.

Some of the church elders who did not want to be named said Archbishop Dr. Kazimba Mugalu should think twice and respond to Luwero issues before it is too late.

“We had high hopes in Dr. Kazimba but according to what is going on in the church of Uganda leadership, we are crying silently but in pain,"  the 96-year-old said in tears.

The church elders also condemned the act of Bishop hiring bouncers to offer him security.

"How can you convince Christians that we are protected by the blood of Jesus yet you as a bishop, your surrounded by Security personnel, why has he lowered that church to this level?"- Church elders.

Basoga Vow To Withdraw From ABSA Bank For Humiliating Their Kyabazinga

A controversial public notice by the Absa Bank turning down an invitation to the Kyabazinga royal wedding scheduled for next month has stirred public anger against the Bank all over Busoga.

It’s been claimed that the royal wedding organizing committee had earlier extended the invitation along with a polite request for financial support to which the Bank responded by rejecting to extend the help while also turning down the request to attend.

In the October 13 dated letter signed by Ms Helen Basuuta Nangonzi, the Marketing and Customer Experience Director at the plot 2 Hannington Rd based bank, the Kingdom is notified of the administrative decision to turn down the invite on grounds that they will be engaged on the scheduled date.

The notice has attracted widespread protests from the King’s subjects who have variously interpreted it as a conspiracy to humiliate not only the King but also the entire Kingdom.

Whereas the Bank has a right to choose whether to or not to attend the royal wedding and extend financial help or not, the public feels that publicising the decision was not done in good faith.

Waiswa Nasur, a bank subscriber from Iganga says the action of the Bank is regrettable and he feels overly offended and regrets his affiliation to the institution.

” I am overly disappointed because there is no reason whatsoever, for the Bank to publicly humiliate my king. I regret that I am a subscriber there,” he says.

Just like Waiswa, Ms Mutesi Mirabu from Bugiri has rallied all the Basoga to come together in solidarity to demand an explanation from the Bank or else unsubscribe their memberships,”

” Never have I seen this type of humiliation to the Kingdom before. Who is behind this bank? It’s time for us all to unite with one voice and demand an explanation from the bank or isolate it to pa for their arrogance.” Mutesi demanded.

Both the Kingdom and the Bank were yet to speak out on the incident at the time of filing this story.

"We don't have funds"- Absa Bank Declines Funding Request for Busoga Royal Wedding.

Absa Bank Uganda has become the center of attention after declining to provide financial assistance to the Kyabazinga of Busoga for his upcoming royal wedding.

In a letter dated October 13, 2023, from Absa Bank’s marketing manager, Hellen Basuuta, the bank responded to the Kingdom’s request for financial aid and explained that they were unable to fund the Royal Wedding due to “earlier scheduled commitments in the period.”

The letter read, “We appreciate your request for Absa to attend and contribute towards the royal wedding scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 18, 2023. Regrettably, we write to inform you that we are unable to support this request due to earlier scheduled commitments during the period.”

Absa Bank’s decision has drawn mixed reactions from the Busoga community. Some residents are calling for a boycott of the bank due to its failure to support the Kyabazinga’s royal wedding.

Gideon Byandala expressed that the King, through the organizing chairman, had only requested funding. He believed that Absa’s public response portrayed it as a demand and suggested that the bank should apologize to the King.

Journalist Gabriel Buule pointed out that Absa had no obligation to contribute to anyone’s wedding. However, he found it strange that the bank rejected an opportunity to attract potential clients from the Kingdom and the surrounding region. He stated, “Well, Absa Uganda or any other business has no obligation to contribute to anyone’s nuptial, but I find it strange when the PR and marketing department of a big business passes up an opportunity to tap into possible clients. The idea would be to negotiate a win-win deal in exchange.”

The Kyabazinga King Nadiope IV is set to marry Busoga’s Inebantu Queen, Jovia Mutesi, on November 18, 2023.

Minister Kitutu erects a Multi-billion Hospital in Kampala.

 One would ask self who owns this huge hospital located in Najera B off Kira road. Yes! Angel Wing Hospital is owned by Dr. Mary Gorreti Kitutu, the minister of Karamoja who is also a woman member of parliament, representing Manafwa District.

Angel Wing Hospital occupies three floors on a  building sitting on half an acre of land.

Our sources revealed to us that the Multi-billion Hospital has been in operation since last year though the minister wants to keep the investment as a secret since she has been implicated in corruption scandals.

The medical facility is fully equipped with expensive hospital equipment, including X-ray machines, Oxygen Machines, Biodex .Brachytherapy, Surgical Equipment, etc.

The Hospital is managed by one of the minister's sons who has only been identified as Dr. Joel.

We further learned that the minister also owns another hospital which is located in Ntinda, though with a very different name from that of Angel Wing Hospital.

 

Inside Umukuka inauguration: Why M7 entrusted Namuwenge with 100m contribution, Minister Kitutu fumes.

There is a soft war between Emyooga national coordinator, Ms. Ritah Namuwenge, and the embattled minister of Karaamoja, Hon. Mary Gorreti Kitutu over M7's 100m contribution to Inzu ya Masaba.

What you need to know:

On Thursday 12th, October 2023, President Yoweri Kagita Museveni gave Bukuka One hundred million shillings, the money was delivered to the organising committee by Ritah Namuwenge, the national coordinator of the Emyooga program.

According to our inside informers, this annoyed the senior politician, Minister Kitutu.

Initially, President Museveni always contributed to Bugisu cultural events through Minister Kitutu. It should be noted that during the official opening of the Imbalu in Mutot Cultural grounds, president M7 contributed over 35m through Minister Kitutu.

It was later discovered that money was not delivered to the committee. 

Our state house informers told us that M7 no longer trusts Kitutu ever since she was put in the spotlight for mismanaging Karamoja Iron sheets and failing to deliver his pledge during the Imbalu opening last year.

Minister Kitutu was put in the spotlight by various committee members on allegations of mismanaging relief cash and items for the region during the Imbalu official opening last year.

This was after iron sheets marked ‘for Office of the Prime Minister’ and part of the aid to Karamoja was found at her mother's home in Manafwa where the minister is the district Woman Mp.

This woke up angry 2022 "Imbalu" organizers who also accused the minister of making aways with over 35M from the state house.

The organizing committee was headed by Mubuya Godwin, who is in hiding up-to-date after failing to pay off service providers in the August 2022 imbalu official launching at Mutoto Cultural Center.

The team alleged that Minister Kitutu made away with 35 million shillings which was given to her by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as a contribution to the Imbalu organizations.

Umukuka iii, Jude Mike Mudoma calls for peace Unity & togetherness in clans.

The iii Umukuka we'Bamasaba, His Royal Highness, Jude Mike Mudoma has called for peaceful co-existence among clans despite being from diverse backgrounds.

"Unity is vital, particularly in developing Cultural institutions and a country at large. People should have respect for each other's cultural values and norms," the Umukuka told a large crowd during his inauguration today the 14th of October 2023, at Mutoto cultural grounds in Mbale City. the function attracted different religious, cultural and political leasers, including a delegation from Kenya.

He further revealed that soon after his inauguration, he would start visiting all 21 clans to establish the challenges and obstacles they face.

"I call upon all clan Elders to front unity and development so that we can develop Masaba land- Said Umukuka Mudoma.

The Umukuka Thanked President Museveni for supporting them financially and promised to work closely with the central Government in all aspects.

"There is no way we can develop Masaba land without the central Government. at the moment we are pushing the government to give us our properties, including the  Bumagin barracks land which used to house the Uganda Peoples' Defence Force (UPDF)"- Umukuka.

The event was graced by several government officials, Members of parliament, other Kingdom chiefs, prime ministers, and representatives. President M7, who was supposed to be the guest honor was represented by the Vice President, HE Jesica Alupo, who delivered his message.

President M7 contributed One Hundred Million Shillings towards the Organisation of the event. His contribution was delivered to to organising committee by Ms. Rita Namuwenge, the Emyooga National Coordinator.

Ms. Namuwenge Ritah the National Coordinator for the Emyooga program yesterday 13th October 2023 delivered the 100 million shillings from His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to the organizing committee for the preparations of the  Inauguration ceremony of Umukuuka III we Inzu Ya Masaba, His Highness Jude Mike Mudoma. 

She received blessings from Umukuuka for exhibiting servant leadership and trust in the execution of her duties.

The money was received by Dr. Kosea Wambaka the chairman organizing committee for the ceremony. 

The inauguration is slated for this Saturday 14th/Oct/2023 at the Mutoto cultural site. 

Keddi Foundation to donate pens to S4 candidates across Butebo district.

A total of One Thousand Four Hundred Sixty two (1462) students from fourteen (14) Secondary Schools will receive pens each and success cards  this Friday as confirmed by the Keddi Foundation communications office.

Speaking to Freeman News-UG on phone, Mr Keddi Steven Zuluba, the CEO of Keddi Foundation who is in United Arab Emirates UAE said sharing the smallest thing you have feels so special with those that do not have. 

"A pen may look so small to those who can afford it, we've always got complaints of candidates missing UNEB because of a pen, I cant just seat and watch this happen yet I want to see a better community"- said Steven Zuluba.

He further said, time comes when parents are stressed with school fees in this economic situation and so giving students even even a single pen can motivate them during briefing and examinations time.

Arinaitwe Peter & Co. Advocates Petition UPDF & IGP Over Land Grabbing Involving Senior Security Officials In Hoima

Lives of lawyers Odur Anthony and Arinaitwe Peter from Arinaitwe Peter and Co. Advocates are facing threats for prosecuting cases regarding the brutal and illegal eviction of a section of locals in Kapaapi, Hoima district. As a result, the legal team has petitioned the UPDF's Chief of Defense Forces and the Inspector General of Police.

According to reports, one of the lawyers survived an attack on October 4, 2023, in Hoima city while trying to rescue a number of land eviction victims.

It is alleged that Brig. Gen. Nabaasa Peter, Bogere Jackson (the Hoima DPC), Kyakashari Michael (the Deputy RDC Hoima), among others, are behind the eviction of over 120 families whom the said lawyers are representing in Hoima High Court.

In a complaint letter obtained by this website, it has been confirmed that several offices have been copied and received, including the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Uganda Lawyers' Society, Uganda Human Rights Commission, National Coalition of Human Rights Defenders Uganda, Chambers of the Principal Judge, Inspector of Courts - Judiciary, Ministry for the Presidency, among others.

"We understand that the primary duty of lawyers, as officers of the court, is to uphold justice and ensure that the law is applied impartially and without fear or favour. However, the constant harassment and threats to the lives of our lawyers since they began offering legal support shouldn't be taken lightly, as it compromises their ability to perform their duties effectively and without intimidation. The safety of all parties involved in the legal proceedings is paramount to the fair and just administration of justice," reads the letter in part.

The above-mentioned officers are facing five (5) different suits, both civil and criminal, which seem to be a threat to their alleged actions, making hundreds of Hoima residents homeless and thus becoming refugees in their own land.

The letter, dated October 10, 2023, is yet to receive responses from the relevant authorities. But according to the lawyers, even though these threats are increasing, they vow not to bow down but to fight harder so that the victims can get justice.

"It's true we have written to the relevant authorities about the continued threats in our fight for the rights of vulnerable humans, but there shall never be enough threats to break us off the fight for justice," Counsel Odur confirmed the threats.

It should be recalled that land evictions are becoming rampant in most parts of the country and are being fueled by moguls and security personnel.

Bishop William Tomusange, Nup leaders & supporters arrested as Army raids NUP Headquarters.

Bishop William Tomusange, national Unity Platform leaders and supporters were arrested today morning at the party headquarters, in Kamwokya during a special prayer for the souls of those who lost lives during the 2021 general elections.

Security also arrested the National Unity Platform (NUP)  leaders including its secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya, and spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi have this morning been roughed up by police and army as they tried entering their headquarters in Kamwokya which had already been sealed off by the military.

Rubongoya, Ssenyonyi and several other members of the NUP were heading to their headquarters in Kamwokya to hold a press conference about the Independence Day and the continued abduction, arrest and alleged murder of their supporter.The two leaders and several other supporters were intercepted at the NUP headquarters’ gate by the UPDF military police, anti-riot police and field force unit personnel, roughed them up and bundled the two into a waiting security drone vehicle at the neighboring petrol station before speeding off.  

During the scuffle, the police and updf fired teargas and beat up people in order to disperse them.

We have established that the two were taken to Kira Road police station were they are being detained.

In the same way the National Unity Platform president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has been stopped from moving out of his home in Magere, Kasangati town council, Wakiso district where he is being kept on house arrest according to police.It should be noted that last week on the 5th of October 2023, Hon Robert Kyagulanyi was arrested from Entebbe Airport tarmac upon arrival and driven to his home in Magere were he was kept under house.

Foreign Affairs official on the spot for swindling Cash in the name of facilitating journalists.

Syahuka Moses Bwambale, an official in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is on the spot for swindling money during the Uganda/Algeria Business Forum at African Hotel in Kampala. 

What You Need to Know: 

On the 30th of September 2023, the Uganda /Algeria Business Forum was held at Africana Hotel in Uganda. 

The event was attended by several Uganda and Algeria Government officials and several media houses were invited to cover the event. 

It is alleged that after the event, Mr. Moses Bwambale converged a brief meeting with all the journalists and ordered them to register their Names on a form, include registered mobile money Numbers. 

One of the journalists who was present at this event told us that Moses forced them to sign on the list promising to send them money. 

"The list had Name, Mobile Number, Media House, and Signature, Unfortunately, we never filled in any information where the amount was. We have never received anything and when contacted him, he told me the ministry had not given him money to facilitate journalists but rather he was doing it as him" - Journalist Name withheld.

Another journalist from a well-known media House assured us that Beambale made him sign for 30,000/- but on the list, it indicated he was supposed to receive 100,000/- 

Though journalists are not supposed to be facilitated by the sources of the stories, in Uganda many organisations and companies at times offer little fee (transport or launch). 

We tried contacting Mr. Bwambale on a phone call to respond to these allegations, but unfortunately, he was not picking up the calls.

The state minister for trade Hon. Harriet Ntabazi has called upon Ugandans to fully utilize the market that has been created by the Algerian government after the two countries reached a memorandum of understanding to allow free trade among the two countries. 

She said this during the opening ceremony of the Uganda-Algeria Business Forum and Trade Exhibition at Hotel Africa which is set to run until 2nd October.

"The Algerian government has given us market-free entry into their country where they have allowed our produce both processed and semi-processed products and they've also agreed to come and invest in our country in huge numbers, my appeal therefore to Ugandans is to jointly cooperate for easy identification if they are to benefit from the initiative," she said.
