The family of Christine Lizz Naluyange, a 19-year-old Senior Six vacationer and former student of Bishop Cipriano Kihangire Secondary School in Bbiina, has begun a search for her after she failed to return home last week.
Naluyange was last seen on the morning of Thursday, June 5, 2025, following her disappearance the previous evening.
Her elder sister, Joan Ruth Nassiwa, said the family initiated a search immediately after noticing she hadn’t returned home on Wednesday night.
“One of Christine’s close friends told us she saw her on Thursday morning,” Nassiwa said. “She seemed cheerful and playful. She even used her friend’s phone to chat with some other friends. After that, she left, and no one has seen her since.”
That encounter remains the last confirmed sighting of Naluyange.
The family added that her mobile phone was off on Wednesday but was switched on briefly on Thursday night, remaining active until Friday evening before going off again. Attempts to reach her via both her MTN and Airtel lines were unsuccessful.
“We tried calling when the phone was on, but we couldn’t get through,” Nassiwa added. “Now both lines are off again, and we haven’t heard from her.”
On June 7, her father filed a missing person’s report at Mutungo Police Station. Police acknowledged the complaint and said investigations were ongoing.
When contacted, Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire said he would follow up on the case but had not provided feedback by press time. Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke also stated that he had contacted the relevant territorial police team and was awaiting a response.
Friends describe Naluyange as friendly, responsible, and not known to leave home without informing her family. She had recently completed her A-Levels and was spending her holiday at home.
“We’re deeply concerned but still holding onto hope,” Nassiwa said. “We urge anyone with information about her whereabouts to come forward. Even the smallest detail could help.”
Naluyange was reportedly wearing casual clothing at the time she went missing. The brief activity on her phone has given the family hope she may still be reachable, though her exact location remains unknown.
The family has taken to social media and community platforms to raise awareness, sharing her photo and appealing for any helpful information.
