Wamono George, an aspirant for Member of Parliament for Bungokho Central in Mbale District, has donated 2500ft of timber for roofing Bumbobi Sub-County headquarters block. Since 2009, local council meetings have been held in a Catholic church due to the lack of a proper administrative building.
The donation was made over the weekend during Wamono’s ongoing consultative meeting with Bumbobi Sub-County leaders.
He engaged with the LCIII chairman, his councillors, technocrats, LC1s, LC2s, and also handed them Shs 300,000 in cash to support their activities.
Addressing the leaders, Wamono said, “We don’t make pledges; we simply give what we have and move forward.”
He emphasized that although his current contributions are modest and made as a team effort, he intends to lobby for bigger government support once elected to Parliament, citing the failure of current leaders to deliver meaningful development.
He urged local leaders to rally behind his candidature in the upcoming NRM flag bearer elections scheduled for July 16, 2025.
Mr. Martin Muniala, the LCIII chairman of Bumbobi Sub-County, expressed his gratitude to Wamono for his continued support to the community.
“We’re happy with Wamono because he’s a man of few words but takes action. We thank him for providing timber to roof our sub-county block,” said Muniala.
He further appealed to the public for additional support to complete the headquarters, saying, “If others were doing what George is doing, our communities wouldn’t be suffering this much.”
