Independence Day in Uganda is a state holiday celebrated on October 9 every year.

It celebrates Uganda's independence from the United Kingdom in 1962.

According to Mr. Moses Wambogo, the National Resistance Movement NRM Boss, Uganda’s Independence is a state of mind not just a physical boundary, the strength of the nation lies in the hearts and souls of its people.

He further ast Uganda’s should honor the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and continue their legacy.
