Counsel Paul Mugoya Wanyoto, an aspiring Member of Parliament for Mbale Northern City Division, has continued his generous contributions to the community. On Wednesday, he donated two 100-seater tents, 100 plastic chairs, 600 cups, and 600 plates to residents of Nabuyonga Ward in his constituency.
The donation events were held at Mbale Parents Secondary School in Buwalasi Cell and Nabuyonga Primary School in Mirembe Cell. The beneficiaries included residents from six cells: Buselasi, Magesi, Sebei, Kicenyi, Mirembe, and Kichafu.
Ali Walusimbi, the Vice Chairperson of Magesi Cell and councillor aspirant for Nabuyonga Ward, thanked Wanyoto for responding to their request.
“As leaders in this ward, we went to Paul Wanyoto to request these items, and he has delivered. I am an NRM member, but I urge everyone to vote for him because he’s the only one who can truly support us,” he said.
Sumaya Mugide Nabukwasi, the Female Youth Councillor for Mbale Northern City Division, praised Wanyoto’s generosity.
“We’re happy for what he has done for this community. Many leaders make promises and disappear after being elected, but Wanyoto has already delivered. Let’s support him to go to Parliament,” she said.
Mangali Benard, a resident of Kicenyi Cell, commended Wanyoto’s quick action. “Many politicians promise but never fulfill. In just two days, he has provided what we asked for. I believe he’s the right candidate to represent us. I urge all NRM supporters to vote for President Museveni and Paul Wanyoto so they can work together for our benefit,” he added.
Manana Rogers, the LC1 Chairman of Buwalasi Cell, said Wanyoto was the first candidate to visit and deliver tangible support to the community.
“We should support such leaders because if he can do this now, he’ll do even more when in Parliament,” he remarked.
In his speech, Counsel Paul Mugoya Wanyoto highlighted flooding from the Nabuyonga River as one of the major challenges facing the area.
“When elected to Parliament, I will advocate for government intervention to address this problem that has destroyed property and claimed lives,” he said.
One of the residents asked him about the rumors circulating around of his meeting with Hajji Umar Nangoli. In response, Wanyoto confirmed that the meeting was there but said it was not the right time to discuss politics.
“I met him, but today I’m here to deliver what the leaders requested. The time for politics will come, but for now, it’s about serving the people,” he stated.
He also invited residents to join him on October 22 for his nomination and a celebration at Gangama Primary School Playground, starting from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., with food, drinks and entertainment for all.
