"I am not a witchdoctor, I promote my culture"- Emma Biara as he responds to his critics

Many wondered about Biara Emmanuel Wepukhulu's traditional attire during his nomination on the 23rd.

Some opponents and critics ridiculed his dressing cord, labeling it "clothes of witchcraft".

However speaking to this news website, Biara clarified that the cord symbolizes Bamasaaba heritage, which he believes the youth are abandoning. 

"By wearing it, I aimed at showcasing my cultural pride and identity as a Mumasaaba, ensuring my traditions aren't lost"-Biara.

He further said Cultural pride and identity are intertwined concepts that form the core of how individuals and communities perceive themselves in relation to their heritage, traditions, and shared history. 

"My opponents are just primitive and lack focus, at its essence, cultural pride refers to a positive sense of appreciation, respect, and celebration for one's cultural background encompassing language, customs, arts, values, and historical narratives, why call me a witch if I promote my Bumasaba culture"-He said. 

Biara is the MP Flagbearer of Bulambuli Constituency.
