Bugisu has featured in many writings of this government, having contributed largely towards the liberation struggles that saw President Museveni assume office in 1986.
Bugisu accommodated the president and big names of Maumbe Mukhwana and Namilundu among others, who aided the president during the tough times of the tyrannical regimes of Idi Amin Dada and Apollo Milton Obote have appeared on the walls of fame, the Bugisu stake towards the attainment of independence of this country thus the region still lags behind
Wanyoto said that Bugisu contributed largely to the attainment of this country's Independence, supporting the NRM party and therefore we must claim what belongs to Bugisu from the government, and vowed to claim what is for Bugisu
In a related development, Hon. Wanyoto plans to advocate for improvement of the coffee brand, the Arabica Coffee from packaging to value addition and international marketing
Bugisu Cooperative Union, together with other private players in the coffee business, are to be assisted in processing coffee beans and branding the finished product
Coffee farmers in the region are to receive farming inputs, the fertilisers to boost production
"We have small land, but if farmers are provided with farming inputs like fertilisers, it will improve the coffee output," Wanyoto said
Hon. Lydia Wanyoto Mutende was nominated recently on the NRM ticket to represent Mbale City Women in Parliament through the January 15th general elections
