NRM members have been cautioned not to break the law while welcoming President Museveni, as some believe that the law does not apply to them and that they cannot be prosecuted.
This warning was issued by the Mbale District NRM Chairman, Mr Wambogo Moses in preparation for the upcoming arrangements to welcome President Museveni.

President Museveni is touring different parts of Uganda to campaign. Yesterday, President Museveni was in Kumi and Sironko districts, and on the 10th of this month, he is expected to be in Mbale District and City.
As a result, NRM members have begun organizing activities to officially welcome their party chairman, President Museveni. After the planning meeting held at the NRM offices in Mbale City to set up the necessary arrangements.
During the meeting, they also expressed concern over divisions among party members in the region, saying these have weakened NRM’s support in Mbale City.
Hajji Hirome Muzamil, the NRM Chairperson for Mbale City, said that these issues will not divert them from their main goal of welcoming their party chairman and mobilizing support for the party. He called upon the people of Mbale to come out in large numbers to welcome President Museveni on the 10th of this month.
Hon. Lydia Wanyoto, the NRM Woman Flag Bearer for Mbale City, said that in the previous election, President Museveni did not receive enough votes in the city, but this time they expect the NRM to win in Mbale.
Halima Nedeje, the NRM Women’s Chairperson in Mbale, said that they have made all necessary preparations to welcome the President and are encouraging members to participate actively.
Ritah Namuwenge, the PLU Coordinator in Mbale City, said that PLU will work together with NRM structures to organize a successful event.
Security officials also attended the preparation meeting. The Regional Police Commander for the Bugisu region, Samuel Asiimwe, warned NRM members not to break the law while welcoming the President. He emphasized that those who violate the law will be prosecuted accordingly, even if they are NRM members.
