Security agencies are hunting for
iron bar-wielding gang who waylaid George Ekochu the elder cousin to National Resistance
Movement Vice Chairman in charge of Eastern Region Mike Mukula on Monday night
and killed him in areas of Namugongo.
Luke Oweyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson confirmed to us that they were hunting the suspects. “The deceased was attacked by unknown men on Monday September 12th 2022 night. "We recovered his body and tracking down suspects”. Owoyesigyire Said. He further said that the body of the late was discovered in the near by banana plantation, near his home in Namugomgo.
On Tuesday, while speaking to Captain Mike mukula, he confirmed to us that a gang attacked the deceased using a blunt object and later strangled him at around 8:00pm as he was going to the shop to pick some item for his family.
The body of the late was taken to Mulago Hospital for postmortem and thereafter, it was handed over to the family for burial arrangements.
Captain Mike Mukulu said that they will issue burial arrangements after conducting family meetings thought the late will be buried in the areas of Soroti City.
