Namisindwa: pensioners stormed district offices over 4 month month’s of non-payment.

Pensioners today stormed Namisindwa district head offices demanding an explanation from the chief administrative office about the delay payment of their salaries for now four months.

According to Marion Lunyolo, councilor representing workers at Namisindwa district council also one of the pensioners says that the district has now taken four months May, June, July and August without paying them over unknown reasons.

She adds that they wanted the CAO Franco Olaboro  to give them an explanation about the delay payment which he was not even at office.

Lunyolo also says that all 117 pensioners like teachers, nurses among others in the district are the victims.

Stephen Watelo, also the pensioner, says that in total they demand over 600 million shillings which they believe that the district top leaders have swindled.

He adds that next week they are planning to match up to the ministry of public services to find out whether they have been realizing their money at the district account or not before knowing the next course of action.

Bwayo Kitumbesi the Namisindwa district LCV vice chairperson has dismissed claims of the district leaders swindling their money.

He adds that even some civil servants have been affected with this delay urging them to be patient as the concerned people are doing what it takes to rectify the problem.

Fredrick Bango the Resident district commissioner of Namisindwa has called for calm to pensioners saying that the delay of payment came as a result of integrated financial management system network failure.

He adds that that system is the one they use for transferring money from district accounts to pensioners accounts.

Bango also says that they had a meeting with CAO yesterday and advised CAO to come and upload the system from Mbale town since internet networks are quick such that these complainants can get their money.

However, getting a comment from CAO Franco Olaboro was futile by press time after telling our reporter on phone that he is busy in the meeting.
