The third day of the NRM party joint campaigns for the parliamentary flag bearer in Bungokho South has concluded successfully in Bunambutye Sub-county, with rallies held in Lwaboba, Bunambutye, Wakutuma, and Angalia Trading Centres.
All five candidates vying for the party flag presented their manifestos and appealed to voters in a peaceful and engaging atmosphere.
𝙒𝙤𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙚 𝘿𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙙 urged the people to elect him as a friend and true servant of the constituency. Drawing inspiration from the Bible, he advised voters to reject leaders who do not bear fruits—likening them to the fig tree Jesus cursed for being unproductive.
𝙃𝙤𝙣.𝙒𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙬𝙖𝙨𝙞 𝙍𝙤𝙗𝙚𝙧𝙩, the incumbent MP, appealed to voters to give him a second term to ensure continuity in lobbying for development and delivering services to the people.
𝙒𝙖𝙯𝙚𝙢𝙬𝙖 𝘼𝙜𝙣𝙚𝙨, the only female candidate in the race, made a passionate appeal to voters and fellow contestants to support her, noting that men have held the seat for six terms with no significant change. She emphasized that electing another man would only mean more of the same and cited some of the development initiatives she has already undertaken.
𝙒𝙤𝙠𝙪𝙧𝙞 𝙂𝙚𝙤𝙛𝙧𝙚𝙮, speaking to his maternal relatives in Bunambutye, humbly asked his uncles and the community to support him. He highlighted his record of selfless service even without holding office and promised effective representation and lobbying if elected.
𝙈𝙪𝙨𝙖𝙢𝙖𝙡𝙞 𝙋𝙖𝙪𝙡 also took to the podium to highlight his vast experience, citing his service at State House, Parliament of Uganda and his current role as a Member of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA). He assured voters that his national and regional exposure equips him with the necessary networks and capacity to effectively represent the constituency.
However, his submission sparked tough questions from voters, who challenged him on the lack of visible community benefits from his previous positions. Some wondered how he would balance representing Bungokho South in Parliament while still serving in EALA, with others accusing him of political greed for seeking another seat before completing his regional term.
The day was not only political but also festive, with entertainment and fun adding to the excitement. Notably, supporters from all camps displayed high levels of discipline and unity, and no incidents or conflicts were reported.
However, campaign organizers raised concern about poor time management, primarily due to lengthy processions that slowed down movement and traffic along the roads.
As the campaigns continue, leaders continue to emphasize unity, tolerance, and peaceful engagement.
