Ugandans protested outside the summit center as President KagutaMuseveni addressed the peace and security forum on the 13th of December 2022, in Washington DC.

Protests are hinged on the purported escalation of human rights violations in the country indicating that Ugandan government officials need to be isolated until they produce accountability for the torture, abductions corruption, dictatorship among other cases.
There had been fears that president Museveni would be snubbed amid question marks over Uganda’s human rights record, most especially when opposition members and activists kept making endless demonstrations before his invitation.
The opposition political parties most especially national Unity platform and its activists had earlier on staged several demonstration ever since the Joe Biden invited Museveni.
At least forty-five African Heads of State, including Uganda's President Museveni, have so far arrived in the second US-Africa Leaders' Summit slated for December 13-15 in Washington.
Invitations were sent out to 49 African leaders, including the African Union Commission chairperson, Mr Moussa Faki Mahamat.
Leaders of four countries; Burkina, Mali, Sudan and Burkisa Faso—where the military seized power—were not invited.
